What exactly IS an oxymoron?
I have visions of some bespectacled Nova boy smearing an anti acne preparation on his spotty fizzog.
All answers and attempts to edjucate this hopeless case will be well recieved.

A dull TVR.

(I was going to say a reliable TVR but I understand they are now much better).

There are lots of oxymorons in Romeo and Juliet, or was it Macbeth in his soliloquy's.

A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence and a mournful optimist.

Edited to add: It WAS Romeo and Juliet.

incongruous

= an individual who makes up a line of people who dance round a room in various states of inebriation uttering, totally tunelessly, the immortal lines la, la, la, la, la, la, LA..la, la, la, la, la, la, LA..over and over and over and over again

or was that "in a conga"? I get so confused!

Nursie, can I have my pills please?

To be 100% correct Monsieur Outlaw, it also has to be rhetorical.

"A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined."

How ironic that one of the rhetorical concepts you listed is "united nations". So we're about to go to war provided we have the backing of an oxymoron

Maaaaaan, a guy posts a reasonable enough question, and gets bogged down in incongruous chit chat, and starts to feel oxymoronical.....or is that just rhetorical?

Er, what? So the word "guitar" encompasses not just general construction but pitch also? What about ordinary guitars tuned into open/alternate tunings?
