Decided to ditch the old windscreen on my V8S and replace it with a new one because of the excesssive milking on the corners which, until now, I have masked with paint. Can anybody tell where the best place is to source one and have it fitted? How much?

Headlamp unit-is it a Leyland Sherpa unit? Can anybody confirm?

Thanks again in anticipation of your replies.Eric Benn.

TVR for the windscreen. About £3-400. inc fitting.

Headlamp is a generic unit. Most dealer/specialists stock them.

Couldn't you get the insurance to replace the windscreen if, say, the windscreen mysteriously gained a large chip in the middle somewhere - lots of blankets and a well aimed stone... possibly?

Headlamp unit is "LUB383" from LSUK (formerly Lucas). See other "headlights" thread for bulb options!

I don't reckon the insurance fitters would give a stuff, 'cause they and their company get paid whatever.

Call them up, and get them to fit one, worst case scenario you have to pay the price for it, best case you only pay £50...

Slightly naughty but you could say that the milking limits the driver's view...

If you replace the windscreen you can expect the new one to go milky again, some do it quickly and some do it over several years. But it's very common and apparently just caused by the body flexing and letting water into the edge of the glass. Is it really so bad you need to change it?

Unfortunately there is a sufficiency of milking, not just at the bottom corners but also starting to show at the edges half way up the side of the screen on the drivers side. The paint masking job looks OK from the distance, but up close it looks totally naff!
