I considered having to buy a new soft top for the S. well I noticed the add on the site for RENOVO soft top reviterlizer. I would say that so far it seems a good little kit. For about £50 you get all you need for an S roof to recolour, reproof, rear screen polish, and a dry cleaner. so if your top is looking sruffy but sound I would say go for it, cheaper than a new hood.
www.renovointernational.com Anyone else tried it ?

Yes. I've been using it since before it was called Renovo and was sold only at car shows. I have only had to use it twice in about 5 years, so it lasts quite well.

I received a kit for review on Friday so I'll have something on the site about it in the next couple of weeks.

I'd vouch for the 'window' cleaner, turned my old rear screen from virtually opaque to see through.

Does a good job of 'putting off the inevitable'

The plastic window cleaner is superb - did an excellent job on my car, however the soft top reviver has a tendancy to make the hood take on a rough feel if overused - makes the car look good though!

Does the kit waterproof the roof as well? Heard mention on here of using Fabseal? or Thomsons before, from experience, which do you guys recommend?..ie ease of application, results etc.

Yes, "Ultra Proofer."

I've only ever used Fabsil (brushed on), but others swear by Thomsons. Avoid getting it on the bodywork & rear screen.

Just used that kit on my roof....no noticeable improvment, but it was in good nick anyway. In the past, I have used fabsil, and imho this waterproofs better than ultra proofer....the water beads powerfully with fabsil up top. Just my 2p.

The roof must be dry and must not be rained on until the treatment has dried.

If it's cold, put on a PH fleece.

With Fabsil, I find I generous coat is enough.

Steve

As much as I am a quoted fan of Renovo, a more cost effective option is to use Autoglym's Super Resin Polish on the plastic, achieves the same standard finish but a bigger bottle for the same price (+ you can use it on the bodywrork as well).

Here's one I made earlier............

Podie, With the Thompson water seal use a generous coating but it’s easy to gauge as the hood will soak up as much as it needs but as mentioned before make sure you don’t get any on the paintwork and if you do remove it before it dries.

I've used Autoglym "Cabriolet roof renovator" with great success on mine. No leaks since. Their resin polish was in the same box - £20 from Halfords- which not only polished the car but cleaned the rear plastic window a treat.

first time I did mine I ended up flicking a load of the stuff on to the section in front of the bootlid - not too hard to get off but now just strongly dab it into the section of roof below the rear screenm rather than slap the brush across that bit. Other areas I wanted to slap on as much as possible to ensure it did its good.

You can get Fabseal at camping shops or Thompsons at B&Q/Do-it-All, etc. I've tried both products and prefer Thompsons. If you buy the Thompsons don't buy the super version, just get the bog-standard one.
Cheers Paul
