Not interested in farm managmenty stuff, or an 'abba tour', just the blood 'n' guts stock keeping/costing/pricing side.

With your name I'm not surprised to see you in here

It's kinda specialised, can't you do something with an existing accounting software package and ODBC?

Learn to use Access or equivalent and save yourself the £3000-4000 minimum it would cost to have an app like that developed.

As it would have to be bespoke.

We used to do this for a customer using our standard stock/manufacturing/accounts package.

A pig was and assembly that could booked into stock then exploded into its components parts and sold from stock

exploding pigs never failed to amuse the developers.

Could you not use a standard system

I've done a sub assembly system in the past (different pricing levels, quoting, sales, purchasing, manufacturing, stock, invoices, the works) jobbie in Access / SQL Server.

Would be straightforward to create something similar again (also possible to use run time version, so don't need to pay Micro$oft per machine. If looks like going down this route send a message, can be possible to create besopke system for less than cost of vertical market products!

Thanks for the responses! Esp. the exploding pig stuff - thats absolutley spot on what we are thinking. Looks like bespoke is the way.

Cheers guys!

Or work with a software house to develop the software and then sell it to every abattoir in the country and split the profits?
