I'm in the processes of generating a valuation for the insurance. If I do this myself the insurance company want £15 for the privilege? Is anyone going to BBWF06 who could give me a signed valuation on company headed notepaper?
To be able to do this you need to be a "recognised car club, assesor or valuer"

Get the offer in writing.
I'm just trying to get around paying £15 for something where I do all the work!

Don't understand this as my Insurance co didn't question my valution, just asked me for photos of all sides, engine bay & interior.

Job done + have a cert as well.

IIRC ClassicLine say that if your valuation is under £15K (??? or some other figure) then a set of photos and £15 will do it. However I'm sure when I last mentioned it on the phone they said that they'd prefer valuation by some 'authority' eg TVR dealer, car club etc... who will charge you anyway, of course.

So yes, they have you by the short and curlies.

Generally speaking, a broker/insurance company will ask for photos and description of the var's condition. The company's own valuers will then assess the car and eithr agree or disagree. Som insurance companies will ask for values over a particular amount to be verified by a recognised authority - e.g. the club.

I have not heard of a separate fee for agreed valuation before.

I think next year I'll shop around taking into consideration the extra cost for valuations.
