Does anyone know of a good bodyshop in Glasgow?

Gutted.

Went through to edinburgh at the weekend to have dinner with the parentals. Managed to get through the meal without world war 3 breaking out - no mean feat, I tell you! However, when I went back to the car which was parked down by the Botanic Gardens I found that someone had made their own 'modifications' to it. A healthy big dent on the offside front wing, complete with scrapes and scratches

Its only a wee euro-box tin top citroen but its my-wee-euro-box-tin-top and im a bit narked really!

So, ladies and gentleman, does anybody know where i could take the car to get it sorted out? Anywhere in glasgow or surrounding area....

There is a coachworks out in the southside. At Cathcart if you know where that is. It is just along the road from the Volvo dealership (which is not closed). They have a big yard full of dented and bashed cars, which I pass every morning on the way to uni. Some of the stuff they have in there is heartbraking. Mangled Porches etc etc. I've even seen a TVR there before.

I can't remember the name though so you may have to do a search in the yellow pages. I don't know if they're any good. I think they're quite new as they haven't always been there.

Sympathies - I've had it happen in the past & it's no fun!

Where about did you leave it? I live just up from the Botanics (closer into the city centre) and am also careful to make sure the Porker is parked on a side street at the weekends, just in case. I had our brand new Golf keyed (along with 5 other cars) when it was parked on Henderson Row. Tossers Never did find out who did it...

I've used an excellent place for bodywork in Edinburgh, behind Arthurs Seat. I've used them twice in the past and each time they've been the complete antithesis of what you expect in the motor trade: reliable, courteous (but not massively cheap, that would be streching it too far....)

Edited to say that I can't remember the name offhand but it's in the car - I'll let you know....

Burke and Hare used to run a good body shop in Edinburgh until the authorities closed it down.

I know it's a bit away, but Burgoynes at Airth (By Kincardine bridge) seem pritty good from past experiance. Also, theres a garage by Winchburgh (Big pink Shale bings between M8 and M9). Can't remember name, but dad'll know, so I can ask him later if you like which is authorised repairer of Ferrari and I think Porsche etc and always seems to have a few expensive cars about outside.

Sounds promising - if you could find the names of these places, it would be much appreciated.

CeeGee - I left the car in arboretum drive, which you would have thought would be wide enough not to hit parked cars!!! The wierd thing is that I used to park down there day-after-day for years when I lived in that bit of town and never had a problem!

Are next to Kircardine Bridge (south side of river, turn west at roundabout at end of M876, approx 1 mile on right).

I got the golf back from them last week after some insurance work if you want a look sometime (wing respray).

t'other 1, which I have no first-hand experiance of is Stewart Rowden Motors. I thnk they are based in Winchburgh, or if you like I could (try and) give you directions. Cant find them listed on yell.co.uk or autosport.com so struggling to give you more details just now.

Both of them are a kind of long way from you though I think, so can't you find someone more local who can sort you out?

Well guys thanks for all the replies.

In the end on family advice i took the wee beastie to Mclarens body shop in Kirkintilloch. I picked up the car today and i must say i am very impressed with the quality of the work. It needed a new front passenger-side wing, the front bumper bonded (a posh word for glued) back to the rest of the body work and several scrapes around the front needed touched up.

It wasn't too expensive and they also did a few other things that i didn't even aske them to do like fill in a couple of chips on the bonnet and (cough) tighten the handbrake cable

and better still while i was there a guy in came in with a saxo to have stupidly large wheels put on it. I managed to persuade him to let me buy his 4 barely scrubbed in alloys and tyres for £80! I put them on this evening and they look way better than the steelies they replaced - (all my mates called the car the 'pizza-cutter!')

So i am one happy moon with some nice shiny alloy wheels on my wee saxo.

but i'm skint

ah well....
