Can't read SD card from IXUS 800 IS
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for a good small compact for my better half, and a friend lent me their Canon IXUS 800IS. Very impressed with the camera if you're after one with relatively few controls (which I am for her). I was using it with a Sandisk Extreme III 2Gb SD card.
When I tried copying the photos from the card onto my Epson P4000 viewer, it claimed there were no pictures on the card. Putting the card back in the camera showed around 200 photos I'd taken were still there. I then tried putting it in a laptop with a card reader, and it claimed the card was blank, and asked if I wuold like to format it.
Is this a known problem? Is it to do with the way the IXUS formats the card, or os it an issue with Sandisk Extreme III SD cards? (I am not able to test with another SD card as I don't have one). The Epson P4000 has never had issues copying files from Sandisk Extreme III CF cards from my Minolta 7D.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Conrad.

I have a P2000 and the 800 IS with a 2Gb Sandisk Extreme II Card as my 'pocket cam'.
I had to upgrade the firmware to enable the P2000 to read 2Gb SD cards - you may find you have to do the same with the P4000
I have no problems using an SD card ready with the cards in both the Mac and the PC. I did to a low level format of the card first though (option on 800 IS format menu)

Thanks Bee_Jay - I've updated the firmware and the P4000 reads the card fine.
