Mystery switch

Hi

My alarm is playing up, and in looking I have found a mystery switch under the steering cowl. A small silver switch, connected to a black box, doesn't seem to do much. Anyone know what it might be?

ps, has anyone fitted their own Meta alarm or other, I would love to hear from you.

The switch could be to override the otter switch for permanent cooling fans.It could also be to lock out the motorised valve on the heater matrix.I'm about to fit a switch there myself,in an attempt to get the blower fan to run faster.So theres three possabilities.Is the black box a relay?

I think you will find that it turns off the istrument illumination when the lights are on,same as chimera I had.

Are they on the steering cowl on some cars?Mine is on the underside of the dash,near your left knee.

my alarm immobiliser has got a valeting mode where you can push similar button to keep the car immobilised but the alarm of to inable me to work on it, would this be it

see you car is a 92 4.3 the same as mine the light switch that they are talking about would on the underside of the dash to the left of the steering column and is the same design button as the lights and boot button ETC,as mongoose said so i dont think it is any thing to do with the lights

The switch is not the light switch for the instrucments, it is in the cowl, and really tiny silver toggle type. It connects to the immobolizer box, a black box by the column. Nic
