Here's the info from their website:

The Ultima GTR road car used for the run was the same factory’s standard production specification road car Ultima GTR720 demonstrator which has recently smashed the 0-100mph-0-world record. It was fitted with a 720bhp Chevrolet V8 engine from the OE engine suppliers American Speed, a standard 5-speed G50 transmission and road tyres. The GTR720 was pitched against a standard 345bhp Corvette C5, which doubled as a camera car to help demonstrate the mind-boggling performance of the GTR720, compared to other recognized fast road cars. The Santa Pod drag strip was utilized as it has the fully sanctioned FIA approved timing equipment rather than the less than accurate timing methods used at some speed events.

Trust me, once I've managed to book a trackday with remotely realistic noice limits, I'll be posting one

OUCH!

So it was your left upright that let go then???

That was a scary bit of spinning going on...

It was the left rear, upper and lower wishbones that had bent during the course of the day. We had to adjust it at one point as there was positive camber. I was hoping it would hold out until the end of the day - sods law it let go 3 laps from the end of the last race. It was the track control link that finally gave way - it broke and punctured the wheel rim causing it to lock solid - from there on I was a passenger. Very lucky - the barrier stepped back just where the car let go. It was good to watch apparently - lots of big flames from the engine bay which is why marshals were a little concerned - that was just un-burnt fuel and they went out themselves - I was just disappointed I didn’t get to finish as it had been great fun up to then.

Blimey - just seen this clip that's not a good thing to happen!

You must have had your pockets stuffed with lucky clovers mate Brave man carrying on if you knew the wishbones were damaged!

And yes, that is hardcore I love the way you tried to restart it straight away, when the car had just spat you off for not reason!

PS. Was it a trackday or race?

The spin was in a race. It was the last race of the day with about 3 laps to go. It was an invitation race and had a wide selection of cars. We lost time on the pit-stop and rejoined in 4th. After a great battle with an historic Racing Aston Martin DB4 (a very quick car) I managed to get into 3rd place. I was closing on the lead cars at a good rate. It had been a great battle up to then. An Audi powered Exige in front is in 2nd place and the Orange Honda powered Exige that can be seen is leading the race. The day was great fun although eventful. I have other footage which I will post when I have time, including starting 7th on the grid and by the first corner I was leading but went wide pushing too hard (this wouldn’t help the wishbones which were already going) and fell back to 4th . I also pushed hard during qualifying when I had an excursion onto the grass entering the pit straight and ripped off my splitter – everyone watching thought that was the end of my day but I kept the power on and got away with it. The car never handled right all-day and the suspension looked out of shape prior to qualifying – we adjusted it to get rid of positive camber at lunch prior to the first race but it slowly returned getting worse. We hoped we would get to the end of the last race and we very nearly did.

Well, kudos for trying chap!

It certainly looked as if you were fighting the handling, with some wheel sawing on the corners. Nice one

It's not surprising it looked so quick then it had twice the power, less weight and the vette had camera's on board plus was no doubt 2 up. In fact it wasn't really a race at all. Still made a good photo opportunity and there should be pics taken from the vette which may be cool.

That was a bit scary! Definitely hardcore. Great to see an Ultima on track racing though...not like us wimpy trackday cowards!

Hope you get it sorted and running again.
