In May I did a trip via Brugge to the LMS 1000km race at Spa. Over the 800mile round trip the car (chimaera 400) averaged 25mpg.

And didn't miss a beat the whole trip.

I was more impressed as she is the 5.0 as well........

On normal, non driving all the way to Kent and back driving I average 17mpg....

On my daily run down the M4 from Reading to Newbury I get about 27mpg for a 1994 400. Just moved into Basingstoke and with out doing the maths I think this has dropped slightly due to the nature of the A339 but it is a nice road!

Is that motorway usage?

My old 4.0 I used to only get 21-22mpg average.

I haven't the vaguest idea what mine uses. When it's empty, I put more in. If you have to ask, you shouldn't have bought a TVR.

My thoughts exactly.

Though I did get 25mpg out of mine (97 400) a couple of weeks ago on a run down to Poole and back. I find the best fuel saving device of all is to have your 75 year old Dad in the passenger seat moaning every time you put your foot down.

Really? Strange then that I have owned 4, including two chimearas.

I did it out of curiosity. I don't care what the fuel economy is, I was in fact pleased it was over 20mpg as it was far better than I was expecting. She was bought on a smiles per miles basis.

When I want to drive economically I use the Passat Tdi, or the MR2..

Yep. Motorway and dual carriageway. Going from Swindon (ish) to either Bristol or Portsmouth every weekend. Really pleased when I worked it out and have double checked it a few times just to make sure. That said, usually I just adopt the 'fill it up when it needs it' approach and, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of times when I get the consumption figure right down!

You do know the rev limiter is not like the speed limit, you don't have to drive on it.....:-)
