Been for a blast on a glorious day today (hood off of course!)everything was great except one little niggle - everytime i slowed down to around 2000 rpm the car wanted to 'kangaroo' in whatever gear! Have'nt had the car that long so dont know how long its been like that -runs great otherwise - any one know how to cure it as its a bit annoying around town?

Where exactly is the vacuum advance module you mention? Have cleaned the stepper motor but no difference there and cant see anything loose/amiss around the distributor but I dont really know what i'm looking for! Any other ideas?

If all fails try disconnecting the CPU for 10 mins down in the passenger footwell, check all the fuses and relays are in place and spray with WD40, reconnect the CPU and see if the problem has gone.

Appologise if this is sucking eggs to you.
But I had similar 'smoothness' issues to yourself when I first got the car, the best thing I found was that running it on the highest octain rating you can get yours hands on makes them run smoother. that means Optimax for moi at 98ron but super at 97ron may be ok, some do run on 95 unleaded but timing needs to be retarded to do this.
The other option is; mines still as rough as hell but I've got used to it .

N17 TVR was suffering from this recently at 2,500 revs, the Basil Fawlty approach of hurling abuse at it and kicking the tyres didn't work.

However, a set of new leads and a new set of 'King Prawns' has............
