hi,

i've managed to get two teams accepted for the 750 mc birkett relay at the end of October.

is there anybody on here who has done this event before, and can give me a few pointers about what to expect?

Never done it myself but would love to give it a go.

Let me know if you need any additional drivers.

Mikeww raced last year in a Caterham. Also, some of the Tuscan Challenge racers are putting a team together for this year. I'm not certain but I think Graham may have done the race before. Maybe ask in their thread on the Dunlop Tuscan forum.

Oh, and best of luck in the race. Let us know what you're racing / what team you're in and I'll wave the PH flag for you on the day!

the two team are both made up of competitors from the stock hatch championship, at the moment they are imaginitively titled 'stock hatch team a' and 'stock hatch team b'

the cars inthe teams are fiesta xr2, pug 205 gti's, 106 rallyes, 106 xsi's and a citroen saxo.

both teams are full at the mo, with three reserves from the stock hatch on standby.
never done the event before, but really looking forward to it, as for a change it about team work between competitors.

should be good

I've done it a couple of times - last time was with team PH along with Graham and Daydreamer.

It's great fun to do, but the best advice would be to make sure your car is well prepared beforehand, as you will be doing a lot of driving and it will cost you laps if you have problems.

Having a dedicated team manager is good too, and always have one car ready to go, with driver installed and belted up just in case the car that's running has to come in early, or stops on the first lap out.

We did it in the Locosts last year and will be back again. Should be an interesting race against you Stock Hatch guys!

Make sure, as mentioned above that you always have one car on standby, and as it goes out have another one ready too. Your team manager is pretty much the most important person so try to make it someone other than a driver, as you dont want to have to make committee decisions when he's out on track. You will end up doing about 6 times a normal race distance so plenty of fuel is a must! Also, buy the biggest mirror you can find and watch it a LOT! The speed differential can be pretty scary at times, especially when the first sign your about to be lapped is the rumble of a Morgan over your right shoulder, or your ear drums popping as a Radical appears from nowhere!

Above all though its a fantastic event so enjoy it!

Great fun and the chance to do more overtaking in a lap than you might get in a whole race normally. You do need a team manager, a good strategy, consistent lap times......oh and eyes in the back of your head.
Did it for the first time last year ( as trackside spotted) and it was agreat experience. Entered for this year as well

Just to say, we had a delay putting a team together, but I got confirmation today that Team "From Russia With Love" has been accepted. Graham raced the 2004 Birkett, and Kevan has done a couple of them, and I've stood on the pit wall for a few endurance races.

Our team consists of 6 TVR's a Chimaera, a Tuscan Racer, 2xTasmin Turbo, a Tasmin and the S3erbera Special
