Focus Mk 1 Intermittent misfire

I have a 1.4 Zetec SE engined Focus (2001 model) and have experienced an intermittent hesitation/misfire when going uphill in 3rd or 4th gear. Otherwise the car revs fine and pulls well on the flat and downhill (!). Has anyone else experienced this or got any idea what it might be?

Otherwise, teh car is superb and is probably the best 'everyday' car I've owned in terms of drive nvolvement and enjoyment. I love it.
