Help please. I am a bit of a numpty when it comes to the innards of computers but like to "have a go".

I have just got a shiny new Dell Desktop and thought I would just pop my old hardrive in there and copy the contents of My Docs over. It appears to recognise the disc and assigns it as Drive E, problem is that whilst some of the files seem ok, other including the entire "My Music" folder (which is the stuff I really want off there as everything else is backed up on disc anyway) pop up an Access Denied message.

What am I doing wrong here - oh I did set up my new Pc with the same user name and password just in case that was causing an issue and I did set the jumpers on the old drive to slave (although I still get an odd message at boot up but just hit F1 to ignore it and it seems to then boot normally).

Any clues greatly appreciated.

S.

Yes trying that as found some similar advise via google (I know google first and then ask but I got ahead of myself ).

Still giving me "issues" though - can now open the folders and see the files but still not letting me copy them over to the new disc.

Do it again and select the subfolders option.

Ok, it seems to be doing lots more things and is taking a while wizzing through files so guess it is working through its issues

Many thanks for the help.
