Think I've done my sums wrong, but does 45mpg sound about right?

You could get that if you are riding like miss Daisy....

I was getting about 42 on my CBR600FY but the CBR600RR was about 36

Well, I wouldn't say that I'm easy on the throttle, but I honestly did notice that whilst in Spain the R6 seemed to fair a little better on the comsumption figures the a mates CBR600RR. Prob just riding styles, but I guess it's there or there abouts.

Cheers.

If I'm doing a long motorway journey on the triple - I average 50mpg (250 mile range).

If I'm playing on the back roads - I average 30mpg

Between 45 and 50 mpg on the motorway stuff. Not bad I thought.

Don't know about the back roads, never really looked at it.

Not good on the Duke 748. Not sure of the actual MPG, but I use about £10 of fuel to do 120 miles, much of it on Motorway and not hanging around. I also use a little Diesel Corsa van for the same journey and it does better on the fuel than the bike - even at similar cruising speeds. The Yamaha seems better on fuel than the Duke though.

I'd call that bloody good, £10 = 2 gallons so it's about 60mpg, which is about what I get out of the MZ.

Absolutely right Pigeon - I was talking out of my arse again .
Got my sums all wrong 'cos I never really look at mpg on anything to be honest (can't run American V8's and worry about such things you know ). I set off with a brimming tank and the fuel low warning light (no reserve on a Duke as such - just a light) comes on when I near the end. That's actually around 3.8 gallons (17 litres), so it's about 31-32 mpg. That's not as bad as I though TBH

My old CBR125R got 107mpg on the commute and not even a duel carriageway in sight. That was one very efficient bike.

I remember reading an article in Bike magazine about a trip to Italy on a 996 and an SP1. The Ducati was averaging over 50mpg which sounds pretty remarkable for its performance.

I think it was more like 30 odd, given the same riding

Just filed up the Falco this morning, only managed 37mpg. That's with taking it easy on the work commute. Seems v-twins are a bit thirsty but still better than the car

Just got an SP1 with a power commander. At motorway speeds I get about 120 miles for a tenner and on back roads about 80 miles. I got well over 150 miles from a tenner on my zxr400 and about 110 miles when I rode that enthusiastically.

so the SP1 is about 51mpg to 34mpg

the zxr 64mpg to 45mpg.

Mine does about 90miles on a tenner - by my reckoning that's about 40mpg. Not bad really but the truth of the matter is I couldn't care less!

749s with Power Commander.
