FAO TRACKCAR. WE HAVE JUST BEEN READING THE FORUM REGARDING THE CHIP THAT CAN BE PUT INTO CERBERAS TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE. IT ALL READS VERY INTERESTING TO THE PERSON WHO KNOWS WHAT ITS 'ALL' ABOUT!! WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 4.5 CERBERA HAVE HAD IT SERVICED HAD A FEW BITS DONE ON IT, I AM NOW THINKING ABOUT HAVING A RED ROSE CHIP INSTALLED, WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS CHIP?? IF SO HOW DO I GO ABOUT PURCHASING ONE (FROM YOU??) AND HAVING IT INSTALLED??

Suggest you ought to be sure you can handle the power of a cerb before uprating engine. If you wanna spend cash on her then ensure suspension, brakes, exhaust, wheels, hi fi and lights are what you want. They go for engine stuff. Go for Joolz or Austec depending on your location ! Both offer much the same service. If you want a RR chip then try me or andy at APM. Joolz website has the costs for chips, whirlwind induction pipes, linked decats etc..... Can easily spend over 2K on ecu etc mods.

The Red Rose Chip will not really enhance your performance. What it will do is make driving at below 2500rpm more bearable. Some Cerbs can be a little "jerky" to drive at low revs and these are the ones that may benefit.
If it's a performance chip that you want then your best bet is to go for one of Trackcar's (Joolz) SR390 chips, you can find one of these under ECU's on his website that has been mentioned in a reply above. Alternatively you can book your car in for a remap, again you need to ring Trackcar to arrange (try him on monday as he is at "Back Home" meet today)...............either way you'll end up with a smile on your face

Looking at your profile, if you want your car set up properly then the best best it to have it done on a rolling road!. The nearest to you out of the two mentioned above will be Paul Austin at Austec Racing who are located in Gatwick. www.austec.co.uk. Give them a call a nice young lady called Alex usually answers, and ask if you can speak to Paul.
Joo's is more up the middle of the country, and cyclone has posted what the RR chip will do, but look at the website to see products avaliable.
Sometimes its not just the chip, can be the cam timing out, or tappet adjustments can compund rough running.
It can be a costly excersie this running a Cerby business...

Thanks for all replies, Gazzab you say you have a RR chip for sale how much would you want for it? Or is there a contact number i could call you on to discuss?? I have had a load of things done to the vehicle since purchasing it, such as upgrading of the shocks, new sports exhaust and other bits, and now am ready to move on to the engine area!! I can tell you the thought of purchasing a cerbie did scare me intitially before purchasing it with all the costings etc, and after having three previous TVRs over 20 years and still keeping our much loved Griff for the time being...until Cerbera is completely done and finished with a chip and the full body respray in a couple of weeks i will then think about parting with the Griff, but till then.....
I know a customer local to me who had a back to back test done with std v RR chip and the RR produced less hp .. if you compare the ignition maps for the 2 chips you find that it's only at the top end that the RR chip has any extra advance .. at the bottom end it has less than the std 4.5 chip .. you would expect that for a high compression red rose engine so it tallies with the RR chip making less hp than the std chip on non red rose cars except at the top end. Even then it doesn't have enough advance to really make much of a difference to performance on the std cars .. it's typically 5-8 degrees more retarded than the SR390 chip believe it or not!
It does however seem to make driveability better on the std cars, though i recently took an ecu cover off a car that was supposed to have the RR chip in, the previous owner had commented on much improved manners since the RR chip was fitted .. and the actual chip inside was a completely standard 4.5 chip! But that digresses from the fact that they *do* seem to make a driveability difference from those people who really do have them fitted so for 70 pounds (i think) they're cheap (as chips!) and well worth a try if you want to try to improve the car's manners contact tvr power or APM as said above to buy one of those

On my first run I bettered my previous best by 8 hundreths of a second, this is a good sign as I usualy get a few tenths quicker, didn't get the greatest launch (bit of wheelspin which is not like me) so 11.5-11.7 was possible. On my second run I was flying but on the change up to third the clutch was already flat to the floor
, so I coasted over the line and pulled off the track to investigate. What I found was that where the clutch "plunger / rod" at the back of the pedal was suppose to attach to something, well it wasn't, I could see what needed doing, this was to put the rod back in place - easy, push washer in place - easy and finally push the circlip in place 
talk about bloody awkward, it took me over an hour of lying on my back in the footwell under the dash / steering rack, sweating like a pig (it was only 28 degrees), trying to manouvre my hands and fingers to get the bloody, stupid circlip in place!!! It looks easy, but because of its location it was a nightmare. Anyway, once the major mechanical issue was sorted, I pulled myself from out of the drivers footwell and back into the blistering daylight, sweating buckets and a bit p*ssed off I wasted no time joining the queue again
, by this time the queue was massive as it was a "Yank car" special day as well as a RWYB. So after queuing for an hour I am back on the grid again, this time I got another crap launch, wheelspin and slight sideways but once hooked up I was off, the run felt good but I knew I'd lost time at the start.........and I was right....another 11.9
, I was a bit disapointed but my start was almost 3 tenths worse than my start when I did my 11.9 in April, so there is definitely an 11.6 there waiting when I get a good launch. Anyway, after driving back round the queue was still massive, it wasn't far off the infamous 30 minute lunch break which stops racing, it was absolutely boiling hot so I decided to call it a day and wait for another quieter, slightly cooler day. It was still a good day out, bit frustrating, but as per usual the Cerb drew loads of attention, with people commenting on how "mental" and wicked" 
the Cerb sounded on the strip, one guy who came over for a chat commented that "the Cerbera really is the Blackpool Rocket" he said it was the first time he'd seen a Cerb on the strip and was blown away by the noise and the way that the back of the Cerb squats right down on launch and then on gear changes, he took a few photos of the car and was then off. Blackpool Rocket it most certainly is..................................makes you proud to own a Cerb

I bet you're gutted to not see better than 11.9 given teh slightly worse starts than last time, but sounds like it's in there to be had .. top marks for equalling the 11.9 set before though, shows it's no fluke .. with the next mods an 11.5/11.6 is surely on the cards? well done .. we just need a positive clutch pedal return stop to prevent the circlip thing happening again.
