Still considering a Tuscan - advice sought
Discussion
Have read as much as I can through PH threads and other forums about the Tuscan and the speed six engine. Would like an opinion. I am assuming that engine mods. have occurred on a yearly basis so am I right that if I were to buy an early car then the best buy could be one with a 2005/6 engine rebuild. Or, as with most cars, there has been hefty depreciation over the last 6 months or so should I go for, say, a 2002/3 car with original engine. Or, should I consider even newer to be sure of engine reliabilty. I'm a little put off considering an earlier car as I suppose other mods. have been carried out, mechanical and otherwise, e.g. I understand there are changes in the targa roof panel design. Any advice on mods. and which way to go much appreciated.
I bought a 2001 car, engine rebuild early 2004, new clutch (cost £1200)and have done 7K miles in last year with absolutley no problems. There are some great cars for sale at the moment for good money just make sure it's been looked after, serviced on time and is in the correct colour combination for you.
Tuscans are wonderfull cars but you might get little niggles like one day the windows might not go down but next day they do.
Buying newer will reduce the chance of something going wrong but buying a used with recent engine rebuild and say uprated suspension and recent clutch should see you alright but remember there are no gaurantees(spelling). What is a garentee is that they go like stink and every time you drive it it'll bring a smile to your face.
Ohh and Get a set of Carbon Cans fitted Pops and Bangs are suppperb..

I recently bought.
Criteria were:
Engine Rebuild
Nitrons
AC
I ended up with a 2000 car and a lot more money in my pocket than i originally expected.
At the end of the day if your terrified of it blowing up then it aint the car for you, they have foibles. My take on it is if it breaks i will fix it....
When the suns out and the roofs off i dont think theres another car on the road within 25k that even gets close..

Same story for me as well, i bought a 2001 moonraker black Tuscan 12 weeks ago, since purchase ive had problems, needing a new clutch and gearbox, but driving over the last few weeks with the roof off and the pipes banging and popping makes it worth every penny.....just take your time and have some money put aside for work. Every body loves asking about it and having a drive around the block. Oh and EVERYONE loves a TVR driver!!!!
