My chim clutch has gone very stiff, to the point where you have to press so hard you need to grip the steering wheel! Ive had the usual problems with a brocken clutch arm. That was replaced along with the clucth..Im sure it cant be this stiff my girlfriend cant even press the pedal..(that is a bonus tho) Anyone got any idears at all?? Could the hydraulic brake cylinder need replacing ?

Cheers

I'm not 100% but I reckon the slave cylinder would be a good place to start. I had this problem on my old one which led to the clutch arm being broken. I think it was the slave cylinder that started it all, The seals went on it leading to air in the system and then the stiff pedal and then the broken clutch arm!
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

If you had air in the system the pedal would be light and the clutch would disengage, doubt it is that.

Mine was getting stiff then this

clutch release arm failed big time..

If yours is just stiff with lack of grease, you might be able to get some copper grease on the ball pivot with a small brush. It will need to be broken/fixed bent back on itself in a v shape somehow..

Possibly try get some on the other moving parts i.e. end of fork but don't know if this is possible.

Warning !!! Don't get any where you shouldn't

Is the car driveable?

I just had a very similar thing with mine. Clutch was very stiff, pressed it once then it went light. Only thing was the clutch was not engaging. It transpired that the collar had seized to the spline so the clutch was permanently disengaged.

Gallons of WD40 did no good. It was gearbox off, remove the collar, clean everything up and reassemble.
