Think I've posted something similar before, but what does everyone use to get really dried on flies off the fairings? I've tried all kinds of cleaners/polishes, but thet're still there. If anyone knows of such stuff, can they tell me where to get it from......Gonna get me leathers on and await help!!!

Cheers.

Lay a tea towel soaked in hot water over the fairing a few minutes before you want to wash the bike, they just fall off

Hmmm, tried that with the leather last week. Kept wetting it, left if for an hour or so, but no joy. It's almost like I need something abraisive, but guess this'll stratch it to pieces.

Yeah, but one is water resistant plastic, and thus all the water plumps up the dehydrated insect life and makes it easy to wash off, and the other is water attracting organic material that just absorbs the water then smells like wet dog. Best bet for the leathers is saddle soap from the horsey shop. Also get some neatsfoot oil for when its clean. Lovely stuff, keeps the leather in great condition.

Yep not sure about 'hot' water though! Very similar to the wet piece of kitchen towel stuck on to the visor - come back 10 mins later and one wipe and they've gone

Job jobbed!

Autoglym do a bike cleaner spray that works really well, wet the dead little buggers, spray on (not in direct hot sun) leave for a minute then apply soapy water with sponge. The clay bar mentioned previously is for the last resort kamikaze hornet that has become welded on.

Try Muck Off.

Available in most bicycle shops. It's mental. Go easy with it though, it can attack bare alloy and some paints. I use a little squirted onto a rag. It beasts the flies off with very little rubbing. A good buff up with a nice clean dry rag after. Job done.

Thanks for the replies guys. However, these flies I'm talking about appear to be, well almost IN the plastic! If you run your fingers over the surface, they're not raised....it's as smooth as a baby's......It's as if the flies are no longer there, but they've left the imprint of their blood and guts.

Cheers.

Use the clay bar. The bug guts eat into your paintwork, which is why it is important to clean them off promptly.

Or Zymol HD Cleanse K(C)lay bars need to be used carefully, if you don't keep them wet they can scratch your paintwork.

V good if used carefully.

You can buy a set from larger Halfrauds which includes the detail spray which lubricates the clay (klay?) made by Merguires

I use a product that works wonders.

It will have flies and bugs off in one wipe.

You dont need water, bucket, shampoo or sponge. You spray the part(s) you want to clean, rub / wipe it, then lightley buff with a polish cloth and thats it.

Even if you vehicle is covered in grit and dirt, this stuff just breaks it down, gets underneath it and just wipe away. it also leaves a protective barrier. It acts as a polish too. You can use it on body work, glass, lights, metals and plastics.

I clean my bike and car with it. Take a look.
