I've been trying unsuccsesfully to instal Nero 7. Mainly want to burn to DVD easily. I must have had a previous version of Nero on the machine at somestage, but whatever I do I can't seem to stop Windy XP from believing there is a Nero media file program, although it doesn't allow me to delete it.

Can't find any useful info on Nero's site and basically the installation keeps failing because it seems that it can't find the previous install to delete?

Anyway, is there a fix I should be looking for...

..or better still, what's best (and cheapest) for allowing me to burn DVDs of data files as an alternative to Nero?

I'd need some more info as to what exactly is going wrong with the un-installation to help you with that, but as for an alternative to Nero, try this:

www.cdburnerxp.se/

I found it had one or two minor bugs and rough edges, so your mileage may vary, but it is free.

Try putting Nero 6 back on first, then reinstall nero7.

Clone CD or Clone DVD. Both seem pretty reliable.

I'd still try to get Nero back on anyway I could if I were you. It's the Daddy.

I've been using this software for about a year and it is excellent, particularly given that it's free.
