Yesterday I saw two traffic wardens pull up and park on a double yellow line. They then got out of their car and proceeded to ticket those around them. They were parked for about 3/4 of an hour. What would their bosses have to say about this?

Cheers

Photo -> Local rag (or Red Top national newspaper) -> embarassment for local council.

You could always write to their bosses and ask the question of how many parking tickets were issued to council vehicles, and to which departments?

Draft out a 'citizens FPN' like a citizens arrest. Bloody appalling, they should park where legitimate, and then ticket everyone.

We don't have traffic wardens in my town anymore, instead the community police issue a few tickets, not many though so parking has been great for the last year or so.

When they do ticket, they always park the community police car on double yellows, then stroll back and ticket the cars usually for excess waiting.
I guess they are exempt from double yellows because they have 'police' in their title? Still looks bad though.

I took a photo, and a note of their reg...

Now all I need to do is something about it - considering I'm in the middle of an appeals process for a ticket I didn't receive, I kind of feel like this could almost help me in some way!

So - next step?

If you look at the Traffic Regulation Order for the Waiting Restriction I feel sure there will be the standard exemption for vehicles being used for Fire and Police purposes.

Enforcement they will claim if for 'police 'purposes.

If there is no such exemption you are home and dry with a complaint. If it is then there are still grounds for writing in on the 'public perception' aspect.

But parking tickets are not criminal offences? Sooo, in theory NOT the work of Plod... Can't be offered up to the Mags for it..

On behalf of Pistonheads, I hereby demand that you let us all see this photograph. It is your duty to humanity, and all those who would happily see Traffic Wardens burn in a Wicker Man fashion.

Ah, but if it was council parking attendants, then they've opted out of the police system and therefore can't rely on this ruse any more?

They're always doing it 'round here and do tend to move on if a passerby calls them on it...

Under that definition every MP is Policing.
AS is every draftsman of statutes?

Think that is stretching it a bit, at least I certainly hope it is, to allow civvies without training to take on the defences of serving plod.
