Sagaris - are cars selling at the moment?
Discussion
I got my new Sagaris on 1st march this year so coming up to being 5 months old. My personal situation has changed a bit over the last few weeks and now I need a bigger more practical vehicle. I can't decide whether to keep the sag, not drive it very often and have another cheaper car, (which means more road tax, insurance etc) or...the more practical option of selling it and getting something nice like a range rover. I think i'd prefer to sell but I don't want to lose a fortune on a 5 month old car. What price am I likely to get selling private? Its in perfect condition, 4k miles and in iced titanium with black and mulberry interior so should be a wanted combination.

Steve,
I don't know what the difference would be between a Saggy and a Tamora but I am quite happy to tell you what the situation was when we decided to leave TVR ownership after a similar length of time.
Tamora cost £37,995 in Sept 2005
Tamora was bought back for £29,000 in January 2006 but the dealer had 2 potential customers lined up for it
When other dealers looked at the car (Subaru dealer with TVR attached) I was bid £27K but they put a real value on the car of £24K. A Volkswagen dealer couldn't get anyone to bid but had an indicated bid of £24K if they had been buying. I "think" the VW dealer called Mole Valley to get this figure.

You haven't given much detail on the spec but my expectation is that you will achieve between 40K and 43k privately.
That looks to be the kind of benchmark for Sagaris' at the moment, with some dipping between the £40k mark (although these are few and far between, and perhaps the base specification). I've currently got mine up for just short of 45k (over £12k less than new) but it is a fairly high spec. No interest as yet (apart from the usual fraudsters
), but hopefully early days. What spec have you got got btw Steve?

Ask yourself why you bought the Sag, and whether you still want to keep it for those reasons. If so, then a few grand (or less) on an estate car will give you the room you need, keeping the Sag for fun or when you don't need the space. Steve
Trading for a Range Rover is going to cost you a fair wedge.

That is absolutely criminal, taking the worst numbers, even if you had owned it for 5 full months(?) that would still have been £700 per week of ownership.

I would guess the trade would bid £28-35k.
Pistonheads is as god a place as any to sell privately. Check the classifieds and price it 2-3k below the cheapest car for a quick sale or put it in at the same price and you may get some interest over time. Depends how keen you are to sell.

There is an 05 spectraflare silver car with 7k miles in classifieds for £37,995, plus you could probably have a bit of a deal on it to say £37k....
The dealer probably wont have paid over £32k for that car.
An 06 6 month old to sell in PH Classifieds is going to have to be sub 40k, so you arent playing against the dealers.

wow rpa that deserves a thread of it's own, I thought you were leaving tvr ownership for a while.
good for you. what colour and spec is the new one?

March '05, Chameleon Orange (Burnt Retina for DJC!!).
Exactly the same as the original, but with 2.7K as opposed to 18K+.
Expected to arrive end this week, currently at HHC being checked over.
Did look around, this is the best on offer. It has been looked after very well, and in mint condition.
I am interested to see if the ride height is set as low as mine was: if not it will be dropped very soon!! The odd touchdown is worth putting up with for the increased handling.
Still have the Chim, excellent given the weather, T440R has settled in well, and the Cerbera, erm, well, hasn't been doing much recently.
