Maserati Check engine !!!
Discussion
Hi there !
I drove my maserati 3200 gt `03 year
Not pulling accel pedal just driving normal then i stopped and after 2-3 minutes i saw ERROR OIL !!!
I immideately accelerate and it gone off. But after two days i saw an even
worse CHECK ENGINE !!! light
I drove normal in a small traffic about 40 km/h and didnt even noticed that check engine is became visible on my panel !!! i stopped turn off and then on. Nothing happened its still appeared. Now its every time i turn the ignition on !!!
I didnt drive like a maniac i drove gentle and now its lights all the way.
What you suggest to do ? I call to Dealer and it said that they can see my
car only next month because there is a big queue.
I didnt see any difference in driving and everything else.
What u think about this ?
Can i drive with this check engine light till i go to dealer (its about 23 days from now)?
Today will try to turn off the battery.
I read threads on this forum but didnt find any clue ?

Err sorry but am I reading that correct....
You noticed the light for oil come on and didn't check the oil and ignored it, then the light for check engine cam on and you ignored it.....
Im thinking the advice you need is to take the keys back to the dealer, give them to them, go back home and use your bike from now on!!
Do you like big bills for fcuked engines, cause thats the way you are going if you have blonde moments like that and ignore the warning lights on your car. leave car at home and find alternative transport until the car goes to the garage and gets fixed.
Sorry for the harshness of the reply, but its monday and that first post warrants it.

Bit harsh Gents - english obviosuly not the first language of this chap - so bear in mind that the use of words like accellerate not necesarily in context.
Anyways - as the gents who responded have correctly said :
1. Check your oil level, pressure and look at the temerature of the car when running / idling. refer to your handbook for the correct temperatures (figure oil pressure should be high - 5bar or so, and that the water temperature shoudl be stuck on 90 degrees once warmed up and never ever move.
2. Do the 'reset' procedure (in another very recent thread on this page with 3200 in the title).
If that doesn't fix things, then it's off to the dealer I'm afraid.

wow wow calm down guys
i watched everytime on oil BAR and its everytime in 5
temperature of water never was more then 90C
i checked oil level its was ok
I think it was low pressure that why its indicated ERROR OIL but not the ERROR OIL LEVEL.
But it was only once and after 2 days the pressure was ok and never dropped low then 2.5 to 5 bar.
How to do a reset can u tell me once again, because i only found to do reset with accel pedal and so on ...
By the way car with automatic transmission.

Thanks 3200GT, I would never suggest driving a car with the error oil light on.
Engine management light comes on for numerous reasons and with out checking it witha tester you are really guessing and wasting time.
It sounds expensive but it is actually more cost effective and keeping playing with it and making the problems worse.
Oil pressure is allowed to read from 2.5bar to 5bar, although normally it never really leaves 5bar marker on the gauge.
Give me call if you need any help

I had the oil pressue light/error message coming on and off once every few months, engine reset initially fixed the fault then it got worse and worse until it was on all the time - during this time I had the engine/oils checked before anyone jumps down my throat for being a numpty!
Turned out to be the 'Oil Pressure Sender' the device in the engine that sends the signal to the dash, quite common.
Fixed under and extended warranty, a few hundred quid but most of that was Maserati labour costs.

Hello Gents
I have had the check oil level come on a couple of times, and everytime I've checked the level it seems fine. The funny thing is on both occassions I was filling up at the same petrol station... It has never come on any where else..
Also when I bought the car I was told to check the oil when the engine is warm, but in the manual is says when cold.. can someone clear this up please...
Thanks

You need to check the oil level when the motor is cold and the car is on level ground, if you've got an auto box that needs to be checked when hot
As for the check engine lights, as long as the oil pressures still up at 5 when moving and the temperatures are within normal range, it's probably another false alarm, just restart the car and see if it comes back on, if it does reset the code and try again.......if that doesnt work it's time to take it somewhere with the correct diag box's
3200's arent as bad for CEL problems as Ghibili's where its normal for the light to pop up once or twice a month!......you just stop and restart it, or if you've got a pre 97 car and are on the motorway leave it on and enjoy the reduced fuel consumption

Funny that, on two occassions recently I've been on spirited drives, then stopped for fuel on the way home. After fueling up the oil level light came on. The next day the warning disappeared. I dismissed them as false as I'd checked the oil level before going out.
Wicked1 serviced the yesterday and said "nothing to worry about"
