Ok so the heat has arrived with venom and i am trying to get my assetto corsa to cool the cabin. No joy.

the air coming out isnt much cooler than outside...any tips as to what makes the car coolest temperature work? Any ideas as to why this might not be happening?

Help...... i am burning up hear and drivin g down to Monaco and then on to Spain in 2 weeks!

thanks Dave....if it does need re-filling with coolant...will that be asble to be done without it being in overnight?

UPDATE
Lancaster jave said its £250 inc VAT to recharge the AC...is this about right?

Probably needs recharging - i.e. more coolant putting. I think Mr Tony had this done at an indy when he had his AC (before the flat cap years).

A simple test to check whether the a/c is operating; Start the engine and let it warm up and leave it ticking over. When you have the heater settings to blow cold air (i.e. the fan on, temperature dial on cold and a direction of face, say) then press the econ button and you should hear a clunk from the engine bay(it is easier to hear the noise with the bonnet closed because the compressor is very low in the engine bay). This is actually turning the ac off and the clunk is the compressor clutch deactivating. You can do this test a couple of times if you are not sure. If nothing happens then you are possibly right there is no or low gas in the system. This test is not conclusive but should give an indication whether the compressor is working or not. If there is a clunk, then you may have a block system, no circulation and thus also results in no cold air.

Hope this helps

Dunno, search this forum I'm pretty certain Mr Tony had it done for <100quid.

We charge the aircon for £75.00 plus vat, this does include a leakage test, check and adjust oil level on compressor and we also add dye. Why pay £250?

I did get it done for about 100 quid.
Didn't do me any good though as the pump then blew up, caught fire (dont' ask!) leaving me by the side of the road (on my first official date with mrs_t no less) feelign rather embarrassed.

New pump and fitting 1250 quid. New gas 100 quid.

So if yours has run out of gas beware if you start seeing white smoke from under the bonnet - apparrently running out of gas meant the pump didn't stay cool, therefore overheated, melted and started burning.....

simpress, you are turning the temp knob past the low setting, and re-circulating the air, i.e the re-circ button light is on ?

No fred...the recycle light is definitly off and the dial only on on the low setting. Without that its a torrent of air that would spot weld most hands to the steering wheel

I'd have a similar problem, the AC is charged because it generally works well when the AC is needed from engine start-up. Sometimes when already driving, if I switch the AC on it makes no diference! Have to pull over, switch off, AC on, engine on, then drive again!?
