prevent you from emailing them directly... It can be most frustrating when you would genuinely want to send them someting of interest?

How many of you have blocked the rest of the PH community from contacting you via email???

OTOH, what you find interesting might not appeal to the recipient?

Would be guessing they are the ones with multiple profiles or just don't want spam....

Why not just leave a note for them and ask them to unblock?

What item of interest would this be?

Fake watches, cheap viagra or a penis enlargement?

Because there are some funny folk about who like to harrass people. You can get some horrific abuse just for saying you don't like the car someone drive's.

Quite often I get 6 technical emails a week, often from strangers asking questions about their particular favourite car.
SOmetimes they want to trace history, sometimes they want advice on performance enhancements, sometimes they want options. When I take the trouble to answer I either don't get a response or any kind of thanks or I get another barrage of questions.

Considering solicitors charge a certain amount for their time as do other professions, and considering how poorly engineers get paid in the UK, should I continue to be giving away freebies?
I can certainly think of a few reasons why you wouldn't want your email contact to be revealed....

Same reason that you put a tick in the box not to receive 'selected mailings from our member companies'. You might miss out on something, but then again you might not.

Indeedy, and I've been on both ends of that piece of string...

No real need for that.... I was trying to grab someones attention, in a slightly discrete manner... it didn't work... I have no way of contacting that person without posting a "OI EMAIL ME PLAEASE THREAD". It got doubly worse when the thread was moved out of P&P and beached into here... So I have finally now given up hope... for the moment.

Until next time good poeple!

used to have some personal details on the profile, then got some message from somone on this site telling me that they did not like my comments, they knew what i looked like, had a good idea where i lived and I should stfu about criticising him....

spammers are ignored or mailbombed depending on if they appear to use valid emails. Got some recruitment agent asking me about some naff jobs in kasikstan ?, had to ask the isp their mail box limit as was going to send them multiple and large files the next they spammed me, I think he got the message across

Only got the one account here, but mutliple accounts simply need multiple emails and they not hard to find
