Anybody want to vet my C.V + Website?
Discussion
Hi all,
I might be being a bit cheeky in asking, but was wondering if anybody wants to give my CV the once over? I've had a quick search to see if its something people have asked before and it doesnt appear so. Leading me to think its not a great idea?? If not some general pointers i.e Dont exceed X pages etc would be much appreciated.
Also on another note, i've knocked up a quick website and registered the domain name. I know its thin on content but im stuggling with the finite line between info and guff!
www.intelletrix.co.uk if anybody fancies a gander and some constructive criticism.
(the xxxx will read Limited once ive finsihed registering as ltd, for now i thought best to not put that on).
Thanks.

Website. Needs optomising for search engines. Not clear how to enter get read of the green tick and make it clear how to enter the site. Personally I would not bother with an Entry page, go straight into the content.
Menu bar could do with being a bit clearer. The layout is dull and a bit messy, inject some life into it. That said I liked the Contact page, crisp and clear. Constructive critism not having a pop.

The look and feel of the site is good. It's clean and professional looking. However, I'd get rid of the "splash" page, as it really doesn't add anything.
As for the About Us page - I think you need to decide what you want to offer - either you are an IT consultancy company (and I'd drop the "new up and coming premier" bit), specialising in Citrix and AD or you are a bobajob Home network guy, who'll fix your broadband. Personally, I think you should decide one or the other. If I were a proper company I would be put off by the fact that you offer Home services - it looks like you are not very professional and will do anything for money. However, this is strictly my opinion!
And you've spelt "solution" wrong on your services page and specialise doesn't have a Z in it

I think it is a neat, simple and concise web-site which basically sets out exactly what the business intends to provide.
There are a few grammatical points in the "About Us" page you might want to address.
In the first paragraph, there should be commas before AND after the words "if required".
In the second paragraph, the first sentence should actually run all the way from the word "Intelletrix" right through to the word "communications". In other words, replace the full stop after the words "homes and small businesses" with a comma and make the letter "P" in "Predominately" lower case.
I can't speak for the technical jargon as that is not my area.
Otherwise, it looks fine.

Hiya....my tuppence worth.....agree with what Eric said...great site, very clean, and very clear what you do...... few things to think about
1) Who are you expecting your clients to be? Big corporates with lots of money, or smallish businesses.
2) Do these groups know what Citrix is, and why they'd use it? You refer to citrix farms - most people who run small business [who maybe need remote email access, and data storage] - won't have a scooby what this is. Might be worth adding in some 'example case studies'
3) maybe have mini explanatory pop-ups on things like the benefits of citrix...or cost comparisons with window server set-ups or whatever. Would suggest you wanna make the 'picking up the phone and asking you for a quote' to be as brainless an exercise as possible.
lastly...suggest changing your paragraph for below....
"Intelletrix are a premier IT Consultancy based on the South Coast. We provide IT solutions to local clients in Dorset, Hampshire and surrounding areas. We specialise in providing Citrix solutions and the associated Windows infrastructure encompassing Active Directory. We also, if required, attend to the physical deployment of our solutions; which may range from setting up client PC’s to installing full racks with a complete ready made Citrix farm. Here at intelletrix we are always open to all requests and challenges and will always provide high quality and cost effective solutions no matter what size project. We are not tied to any specific vendor which allows us to be truly flexible and accommodating no matter what the requirements or budget."
cheers!

Thanks for your replies.
I think they all roughly translate to: sort out the exact business angle and target audience first.
This is something I was aware of. I didn't want to chase the 'big corporates' as it isn’t feasible so the target audience was the smaller end of the scale. Assuming to catch businesses already wanting/knowing Citrix.
I think it would be a good idea to diversify the site into perhaps having a sales oriented side including case studies and reasons why you would want it. Only trouble is if the business doesn’t have it or know of it, it is probably not the right solution (read, out of budget). I can see a real potential for this, just need to hone the specifics.
Regards home service side of things, probably better to just whack out flyers and a bobajob website
I did have reservations about incluiding this as really it was just to provide a supplementary income to fund an Elise.
I'll give it some thought, tho the main objective so far was to get a look and feel for the site which seems to be gernerally ok.
Perhaps my time would be better spent on writing my CV. The move from 3rd line into consultancy seems to be a bit of a tricky one as most jobs are requesting consultancy experiance. I feel like im trying to get my first IT job all over again!!
Thanks again.
