Injector Flow rate
Discussion
When you say green band, is that the little green split collar that goes around them?
Just wondering out of curiousity really, cos over the weekend I did a really accurate scientific test, and made my own flow rig in my shed, the measurement was the marker from 500ml to 250ml of an old ATF bottle, from which I timed how long it took to throw 250ml of fuel through one injector, repeated 7 more times.
The purpose was to see if all the injectors went at the same rate, which they did to within a second or so, not to accurately measure flow rates. I'm just curious to see how inaccurate i was if I was to use the setup to get quantative values...as it is I have some magic injectors giving around 270cc/min
Regards
Iain

The figures I have for a Bosch injector matching the 'green band' type are 230 cc/min at 40 psi.
Not sure about the 230 Peter that seems more like an upgraded flow rate to me, pretty sure its below 200 as standard. I'll give you the pressure, it may be 2.7 bar though

I don't know for sure, I'm just telling you what I found.
My original injectors were marked 'D1830GA 0951' with a green band. I found a cross-reference at fiveomotorsport which suggested that they were equivalent to Bosch 0280 150 561, which apparently flow ~230 cc/min or ~22 lbs/hr at 40 psi. I know we don't run them at 40 psi, but that's the reference figure that was quoted. As a sanity check, 230cc/min corresponds to roughly 46 bhp per injector at 100% duty cycle, i.e. 41 bhp at 90%, 331 bhp for the set of eight. Bearing in mind that we run slightly lower fuel pressure, and maybe want to be slightly rich at the top end, that's not a million miles away from the 300 bhp that these injectors are sometimes quoted as topping out at.
Another figure that sticks in my mind is 214 cc/min, which may be because somebody (Mark? Joolz?) quoted that - or maybe because that's what the Jag injectors flowed, I don't know, maybe I just made that bit up.
Interesting links.
If using batch/bank fire would you theoretically enter 16 injectors for a v8 as they are being pulsed twice? I've got a big engine here which needs 97lb injectors and they will be crap at lower rpm's so by pulsing twice instead of being sequential I could use a much more sensible item.

I think you're confusing frequency with duty cycle. The injector maximum flow rate is achieved when the injector is permanently open (100% duty cycle), and this is the figure that is usually quoted.
Whether you run batch fired or sequential or semi sequential doesn't increase the maximum flow rate beyond the nominal 100% figure. In fact triggering the injector more often will probably reduce the flow rate slightly because the more often you open and close the injector, the less flow you will get out of it (because it spends more time opening and closing instead of being fully open).
Peter was it this page you made the cross reference from www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsENGLAND.asp ???
I'm thinking out loud here...currently I've got the whole inlet side of the car apart, replacing valley gasket and seals, otherwise i wouldnt be entertaining this, but it seems a convinient time to do things.
My current injectors are the Lucas green band #D1830GA, which I'm told be several people have crap flow patterns etc and can be improved on. I also have a set of Bosch 0280155787 injectors off the later GEMS/Thor injector setups, which I'm told have a much better spray pattern. I also believe that the later setups run at 51psi.
As a though, should I put in the Bosch injectors to get the benefits of the spray pattern, then adjust the fuel pressure until I match the flow rates from the original Lucas injectors. When I get the engine management played with, I can then get the whole system optimised, but run the comprimise in the mean time.

ETA...just noticed something that might become a show stopper...the Bosch injectors are 10mm or so shorter than the Lucas ones.
