Anyone put these on their duc? Do they make a difference? Are they worth $200?

The Corbin Gel seat looks like it'll save my bum...

They can make quite a bit of difference. I have a set of Helibars on SV for commuting comfort, I think they're worth it for me riding everyday. Also bought a Gel seat and it definitely improves comfort too, although it depends on how bad the standard one is.

Thanks chief. The standard isn't that bad I just like the squishy gel one. The problem is I am riding 250 miles Friday and after about 30 mins with the current set up it aches...

On a positive note I seem to have eliminated the clunk on clutchless up shifts

C2,

I hear what you are saying but, I have to ride 500 miles in 2 days! They are Fast By Ferracci ones though... And the gel seat has a small Italian Flag on the side... Redeemed it?

The seat I can forgive, just.

Not the bars though! 500 miles in 2 days is fine you big jess! I do that fairly regularly most summers going down the the west country and back to see family.

I always found that above 80mph Ducatis are pretty comfy, it's only at low speeds (with no air resistance to hold you up) that you feel the weight on your arms.

I hope so, I was toying with the idea of doing High Wycombe to Dundee in one day (450 ish ) on my ZXR750 - until her indoors told me she wasn't going to let me

I think the most I've done is 650 in a day. Pretty brutal riding towards the end but do-able.

I'm afraid I'm totally with C2 on this one Scoobz. If you want comfort then don't have a Ducati. Not so bad on a run though as C2 says. Get a decent pace going and you can ride for hours. I do lost the feeling in the fingers of my right hand fairly quickly though, and at slow speeds it's like a torture rack. But a duke is all about the look, sound, handling and feel good factor. Comfort was way down the design list. How about a Goldwing - I hear they're really comfortable *

* no offence meant Scoobz, or Gold Wing owners

Why tell him that out of interest? Does it get you a discount?

No discount, I am friends with the chaps down there, like them to know that I am recommending their services.
Just don't blame me if you go in for a seat and come out a few quid lighter. Which can easily happen trust me on that.

Glad I don't own a Duke, with so many tempting shiny things available. The magnesium swing arm looked seriously tasty! Of course it would be completely wasted on me, but hey, it looks the nuts.

I've bought a lot off them over the years and was hoping for a discount.

Bah.

ok ok ok ok .... I don't want the bike for comfort, i just have never ridden that far in one go.

: puffs out chest and mans up:

Fine. I'll ride there only stopping for fuel. If I need the bathroom I'll just go. I'll just arrive covered in dead flies, stinking and bent double, it'll be fine.

The reason for all this was the dude that services it for me had a 998 in with the bar risers on and the gel seat and said I could have the lot, fitted for $200...

But the pistonabuse has learned me.

Get them fitted, don't listen to these lot, if you're more comfortable, you'll be more relaxed and alert, you might even get more out of your bike.

I agree, I've got Cyclecat adjustable bar risers on my 916, I have them adjusted to the lowest setting which is only about 1/2" higher than standard but the angle is adjustable and the bars are longer - the difference in comfort is night & day; less strain on wrists, forearms and neck, I can even look over my shoulder a little now, can position the brake & clutch lever into a more 'natural' position and don't trap my thumbs on full lock any more. The standard setup is fine for a full-on racing crouch for typically sized/weighted SBK-racer/factory-test-jockey but not all of us are built like that and ride in a full racing tuck/full attack mode all the time on the road.

I see it as no different than adjustable steering wheel/seat position on a car, the standard setup works well enough and you can ride round it but doesn't suit everybody due to size height etc and I found the worst part was the severe neck-backwards angle required to see where you're going - this may not be a problem for little skinny short-in-the-body SBK Jockeys but for real people on real roads who don't ride at 100+% all the time things can be better - and I definitely get more out of the bike this way.

I also have rearset footpegs set higher/more rearward than standard as I find it more comfortable - again if yer' legs are longer than said factory Jockey this helps.

I've never found the seat uncomfortable though but each to their own.

i think thats the same with most modern sportsbikes though, my Fireblades quite comfy on the motorway and through more fun twisty roads you dont feel it as much beause your concentrating on other things, but through low speed towns etc it really start to take its toll on your wrists.

made it.

Through 105F heat in the deserty bits. Like riding with a hair dryer on you. Even at a few clicks north of warp factor 10.

Through the two big fluck off barky bitey dogs that tried to chase me me as I came to a stop sign.

Through the billions of bugs that homed in on me - like driving through that starfield simulator screen saver I tell thee..

The dook now looks like a bug grave yard but he did good 'good dooka'.

And I tell you what? 500 miles in a weekend has done wonders for me driving ability and confidence...

wrists hurt though
