Hi there,

Had a great day out at the Kimbolton Classic and Country Fayre last Sunday. Not been to this event before but will certainly make it again next year, never seen such a wide variety of cars in one place.

All of my pics can be found using the links below: -

Good pictures there, Tim. Particularly liked the black Ultima and the white Mk1 Escort Mexico.

We went to this last year and it was certainly a good day out. A friendly atmosphere, some lovely cars and a beautiful setting. Missed it this year but will try and go again next time.

those pics are fantastic! i had an excellent day out on Sunday, did 3 dreamrides (including that grey Jag XK) and the Chim and the Tuscan S that showed up later in the day. apart from that i went round the whole show taking 96 pics of my own then went back to the TVR stand.
(you might have seen me there, big guy with the blue TVR logo shirt and the grey 3/4 lengths) there were some fantastic cars there, some of my favourites were the nightfire red Tamora and the white Ultima with the blue stripes
can't wait to get my own photos back now!

Thanks a lot to autofocus for his photos of Kimbolton Fayre, I've only just seen them. Most of the Sporting Bears members (and Rotary Club members) who help out on the day get to see very little of the vast show so it's good to see photos of what we missed. I'm told we had over 700 cars on display this year and a few doing the Sporting Bears Dream Rides including my mate's Jaguar XK. See our website for more info www.sportingbears.org.uk
You can also see the Bears this year and take Sporting Bears Dream Rides (all for UK children's charities) at Blenheim International Horse Trials, 1-3 Sept, about 15 static cars and on Sunday 3rd about another 15 giving rides. And of course the NEC classic car show, (you can get to it from MPH show) 27-29 October with about 60 (including exotics) cars giving rides and 4 or so on static display.
Remember the Sporting Bears participate to raise funds for children's charities in the UK by giving and having fun with their cars. End of ad, thanks, Nigel

Sporting Bear, was your 4.3 Griff reg'd K66 TVR? if so you took me for a spin in it 2 years ago at Kimbolton!

Well remembered! You also went out in XK owner's former grey Chim the other year, we spoke of you tonight. Don't think you went out in my V8S, that would be a few years back. Last year I had a grey Honda S2000, not many people wanted to ride in that.

Though my Griff was a K reg the number plate J66 TVR was trasfered by the orginal owner (from a V8S) and the car features in the Griff book with a young(er) Tony Abrams (before I owned J66).

Hope you can make the NEC Classic Car Show, I'm told you can get in via MPH show as we'll have a lot more cars there.

Just in case you were wondering this year at Kimbolton I was mostly driving my wife's Daihatsu Copen (the silver chicken) 659cc turbo'd great on the Kimbolton ride route!

i did indeed go in the grey Chim last year, nice car. shame that when we got back it had a hissy fit and started smoking up when that wire started melting on the exhaust!
i went out in the same chaps new XK this year too. thats a lovely bit of kit isn't it? i was pleasantly surprised by that, it had a really good turn of speed for such a big cruiser!
your Griff was the first TVR i ever passengered in, i still remember that lovely precat noise and the sense of speed!
i did 3 dream rides again at Kimbolton in the Halcyon Atlantis Chim, the XK and that fantastic Grey Tuscan S that showed up later! i don't think i've been in anything quicker! bar that Noble last year!
i did see you out in the Copen several times on the route, i was going to come over and say hello but it must have been quite popular as every time i was up by the dream rides you were either out or coming back!
i'll see if i can get down to the next show at MPH, sounds like it will be a great event!
see you around!
james.

James, thanks for your kind comments I'll pass them on to XK and Tuscan drivers.
Last year's smoke from under the bonnet was soon solved we put the spare ignition lead on.
Yes the pre-cat Griff had a fantatic noise with sparks from the exhaust too (unburnt fuel I'd paid for), the V8S and 3.5 wedge are also worth listening out for.
At Kimbolton I only had one official ride with the Copen the others were showing new drivers the route. The Copen is about fun rather than speed but it can attain its quoted top speed, not all cars can despite what others may tell you.
I've been a passenger in such cars as Ferrari F40 and Strada Challenge but the most impressive for me was one of our members own built 7 litre, 600 hp, Shelby Signatue, Cobra rep. and the quickest was going out in the Noble M400 with its test driver, the most serene driver I've ever meet.
If you have the chance please do call by at the Classic Car Show I'll either be on the static stand or with the ride cars, thanks, Nigel
