Then you wouldn't be all that banned?

So to be clear, if you have been banned you may not hold a provisional licence, may not take lessons and may not ride a moped.

Someone I was talking to seemed very sure you could so I was beginning to think I could be wrong.

Whether the licence is provisional or not just affects what you can drive and how - for example you need to be supervised in a car.

If you are banned then your licence - provisional or otherwise - is suspended for the length of the ban and you are not licenced to drive anything in any manner.

Also if you are banned can you still keep your insurance so as to protect the no claims built up?

if you have a bike and a car licence, do you lose both or just the one you got ban on?

Friend also managed to accrue no claims bonus as it wasn't being driven and was off the road, he managed to get it TPFT....

Think that might be a moot point seeing as your premium will go through the roof due to the ban.

I was wondering about this. Supposedly, some companies don't raise the premium in the case of a ban. Instead they impose a huge excess on a claim to dissuade the newly reinstated driver from having to make a claim. This is only "supposedly" though, from an ex-employee of Privilige.

They are the same licence. Get banned on your bike, no more car driving and vice versa. Drive your Pizza delivery moped through too many red lights, and it's not more day-job driving the bus...

Printed on "ORDER OF THE COURT"

Court said:
You have today been disqualified by the COurt for holding or obtaining a driving licence for the period shown above.
This disqualification takes effect IMMEDIATELY.It means that you must not drive any motor vehicle on any road or in any public place in the United Kingdom for the period of disqualification.

Read that off mine .

If you are banned then you are banned for all vehicles.

You may be getting confused with licence revokation. This is where a new (first 2 years) full licence holder gets 6+ points & has their licence revoked. They can then apply for a provisional & are subject to leraner rules until the pass theory & practical tests again.

Yes you can........

Where a person is convicted of an offence involving obligatory or discretionary disqualification a Court has the power to disqualify until a test is passed.
Section 36 Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. The term disqualify is stated under the Section.

If power used then driver has to take out a Provisional Licence and earn his spurs again. So technically speaking banned person can hold a Prov Licence.

The rub however is in the next section (37} which stated that the disqualification is in fact a revocation of the Licence. Which as we all know is a different kettle of fish...........
