That Griff pops more than my Chimaera.

OK - not so long ago somebody posted a question that went something like "I've just bought a TVR and its pops and bangs - is this normal".
I'm quite proud of the fact that my Chimaera does pop nicely (5 litre). However, I was following a Griff (black one in Cirencester Glos) the other week and that puppy put mine to shame!
So, what's probably been done to the Griff to make it so vocal!?

His choices were many - Sleeved, Straight through pipes, Cherry Bombs, Cat &/or Pre-Cat removal etc or indeed a mixture of some of these.
What did you do to yours to make it Pop & Bang? Without 'alteration' Chims don't naturally Pop & Bang although they sound nice.

Disagree... they pop and bang as they run lean and the lambda gets a tad confused so excess fuel ignites in the exhaust... sleeving the exhaust makes it more obvious.
Mine pops and bangs a fair bit, but I can make it crack like a Cerb (ask Psychobert about following me a few weeks back
) when I choose too.

Didn't notice the Reg, but your car pic fits the bill. You were heading in the direction of the police station. Out of interest, where do you get your car serviced?

But yours is SLEEVED isn't it
...least thats what your PH profile says...I've been driving a Sagaris for the past couple of days and that popped,crackled and banged a number of times almost everytime you came off the throttle once warmed up. Not sure if this adds much to the topic but when I drive my M3 I'm going to miss the sense of occassion and drama all that noise brought with it.
But back on the subject of TVR noises I just loved the whole starting procedure and the associated sounds- my favourite being the deep electrical hum once the diagnostics had done their thing. The car just seemed to bristle with energy.

...least thats what your PH profile says...PRIOR to it being sleeved, it popped and banged but not as loud as it does now.

I think that's what they're all about! When I try to explain to people why I have a sketchy Cerb rather than say, a souped up Jap rocket for example, this is it. TVR's have something else about them that can't be explained just with the low 0-60 figures!

I'm just about £37k short at the moment but AaronTVR does have a nice ring to it!
I just dropped the car back this morning and went off to work and I am actually going to be quite sad to go home and not see it parked outside the house.
It's funny as I get to drive quite a lot of different cars and I always appreciate and enjoy the experience but there's always a niggle/flaw/trait that makes me think that I wouldn't want to live with a particular model day-in-day-out whereas the Sagaris had the most 'niggles' (no air-con being one of the main ones!) and it's the only car I've ever wanted to keep hold of.
Other cars I've had recently include the Cayman S, Z4 M Coupe, Gallardo and F430 Spider so it's not like I'm comparing it with run-of-the-mill euroboxes.
I'd guess what the Sagaris had was real soul.

Tamora next (or T350 but you'll be used to going roofless, could be a hard transition)
Then test drive a Sag again and decide if you prefer the Tam with it absent roof, if not Buy Buy Buy!
If you do prefer the Tam, you're finished in two steps!
