944 oil?

just a quick question:
What oil and what grade would anyone recomend for a 944 1984 with 110000 miles?

The Castrol stuff for "older cars".

i've got 10W40 in my 1986, seems fine

I run Valvoline VR1 Turbo 15/50 in mine as it uses oil, this reduces it slightly.
Otherwise I'd run on Halfords 10/40 Mineral if you change every 6K or Semi Synth if you do 12K.

10/40 semi-synth from Vauxhall ('cos I can get it dirt cheap, and it's good stuff.)

Changed every 6k, or so (or at least that's what I plan!)

If it's anything like mine - quantity is the main requirement at the moment. 8 litres on the way to le mans and back (plus some serious hooning round the loire valley for a couple of days). As soon as I'm into the new house it's into the garage for a bit of a rebuild and the turbo is off on holiday to the states.
