The trident on the front of the Maserati is in quite poor condition. Anyone had one off and had it resprayed/replated? Any ideas welcome, and anyone any idea how to remove the flipping thing??

Do what I did, buy one off ebay to keep as sunday best and then have the tarnished one sprayed to match the body work colour.
And just remembered yours is red too, so you can give it that "ye olde worldie Maseati racing car touch"

Why not buy the real thing (check in the Eurospares on-line catalogue; talk to Keith... nice chap and will give you lots of help). Alternatively you could get it re-chromed. But before anything: have you tried with Autosol? That will cost you 3 quid for a try.

Anyway, hope to see you on Sunday @ Beckton gathering and will have a peek in-situ and possibly come-up with some other options.

PS : Have just checked the Eurospares catalogue for you. A brand-new front badge is £ 56 + VAT. Bit on the expensive side, but why cut corners on a Maser... your call, though.

Or do as I did and get the real thing off ebay for £7.27. Plenty around as new old stock.

Was the one you brought off Fleabay in good condition? My only concern with that route is getting something pretty much like the one that is on the car at the moment. Like the idea of spraying the old one 'Rosso Indianapolis'. Looks quite effective on your 3200.

Thanks Troesma, will probably go the Eurospares route, had not thought of them to be honest. Myself and JohnnyBoy will be at Gallions Reach tomorrow, so will catch you then.

yeah, brand new in the masser box still. Knowing Italian chrome though, I doubt it would last much more than a couple of years before it was in the same condition as the old one.

Yep, you could get them off e-bay... like the new trident/arch b-pillar decals as standard in the post-2005 models. Have seen both the e-bay likes and the real one: almost identical, but the chinese (or whatever) thingie has some pre-applied adhesive for fixing, in rather cheap material (but otherwise identical looks), whilst the real one... you have to drill the holes (!) to get it fixed, as it is screwed from behind, and is made of much better material (agree, though, the chrome might not stand the test of time...)

Whilst 56 quid against 7 is a no-brainer contest, dunno, maybe better to search for a used, salvaged one (if you go to Eurspares warehouse, they have tons of decals... maybe you're lucky).

See you tomorrow guys.

The trident badges that fit the 'c' pillar on any 3200 or 4200 are on e-bay but cost twice as much as buying the direct from your Maserati dealer, so be careful.

The thing with the c-pillar decals is that you could have the occasional teenager scrote thinking those could make a nice addition to his/her bike, and leave your paint in ruins in the attempt of taking it out. A friend of mine had that experience in San Diego. Believe me, the respray costed much more than the decal.
