AA parts and labour cover

I thnk this has been mentioned before but has anyone actually tried making a claim from it?

They will pay up to £500 3 times per year with £25 excess - If the car is under 10 years old and 100k miles it is £48 per year.

Seems very reasonable but is it a scam??

As a TVR owner, I'm definitely signing up for this. Even if they squirm about paying, I'm sure I'll recoup the money in a year.....

Edited to say: just signed up for it. No catches evident as long as the car is serviced according to the manufacturers guidelines at a reputable garage...

Sounds like they could be giving each of us £1500 (ok, £1425 for you pedants) a year pretty soon! Surely there's a catch?

Hi Guys,

Worked for the AA for a while and was around whilst this product was being developed can assure you it wasn’t a scam back then and is a good deal. The only restriction might be on car make i.e. no Ferrari, Porsche, TVR etc but I could be wrong, it’s been a while and I might just be mixing up my AA products.

A friend took it out to cover his Alfa 156, consequently he used it a lot, with no problems at all.

Nope, no probs with my Tiv. You have to specify the car you want covered.

I have got this cover for my cerbera. Quite a long list of exclusions but I understand that other TVR owners have claimed with the AA policy. and at 48 squid !!

There you go, as I thought, getting mixed up with my products.

In that case I am confident that there was no 'small print'. I seem to remember at it's launch take up was not as high as expected, which no one could understand given that the product seemed so good - could well be people thought it was too good to be true so avoided it!!

It *does* look too good to be true.

Reading the small print, it seems to infer that the repairs must be done at an AA service centre (Hellfords)....

So, if Toyota are servicing the car, and notice, for example, that the rear shocks need replacing, can Toyota replace them, I pay the bill and then claim the money back from the AA?

Don't think it covers wear and tear in this way. More mechanical/electrical failure. i.e. the AA guy thought my alternator was knackered the other night when I conked out, and he said it would have got replaced on the scheme....

if you buy a new mini you get 5 years free parts and labour servicing for £100... needless to say that option box was ticked!!!
