Judging by the number of posts on PH I'd have to agree the Chimp is by far the most popular (dare I say common ) TVR.

More Chimaeras were made than any other model to date.

Would I be in the right ball park area if I said there were about 6500-7000 Chimaeras out there, compared to about 1200 griffs? or was it a dream I had!!!

Steve Heath's our numbers man. I think the ratio was 4:1 or 5:1 in favour of the Chimaera.

I would have thought the tuscan. I hardly ever see a cerb, chim, but a fair few more tuscans. Probably due to the film it was in and all the adverts.

My guess at the charts, pop pickers, would be:
1. Chimaera
2. Tuscan
3. Griffith
3. Cerbera
4. Tamora
6. T350C
7. TuscanR

yes i was under the impression the chim is the best selling. But i ask you out of the aforementioned list. what tvr would you most like to own and why.would you stay with the "traditional" rover V8 animals or preferr to dabble in the new "furturistic" models.(not that the cerb fits into either but you get the idea) if cost and reliabillity were not a factor??

In that case, it would have to be the Tuscan, that is next on my 'to have if I work hard enough' list. Just watched Swordfish again on Sky Movies!!!
Having said that, I am still very careful in the Chim, a right wuss, and rightly so!! lol

I think we've forgotten the S which would probably were made in similar numbers to the Griff, don't forget it turned the company around and made it what it is today

PS IMHO

Good point its often said that the Griff was the car that turned TVR in to what it is today but im sure it was in fact the S that put the company back on track and then the CHimaera that financed the company to where it is today.

At one point it was also true that more chimaeras had been built than all other tvrs put together ..

Also, they are all cool. Especially mine. And Cerbs and Tuscans and Griffs. And the others.

I'd like a Tuscan with a 4.5l V8 out of a Cerb in it.

Not too much to ask is it?

The majority being 350's , 242 400SE, 35 ish 450SE's, and sub 50 SEAC's.. will clarify though

has to be the chim 4L doesn't it?? Sheer weight of sales. Isn't that what popularity is all about?

I thought it was in the region of 2500 each 350s and 280s, with a few hundred 390/400/420/450/SEAC between them. Total something like 5,500 wedges?

According to the bible there were 2604 Ss built.
605 S1
668 S2
887 S3
410 V8S
production started in1987 and finished in 1993

I dontknow how many Griffs were built but I expect the Chims add up to Ss and Griffs put together.
