Pirelli PZero Rossos - how cr@p are these!!!
Discussion
Had 4 fitted to my 996 C4 a couple of months ago - tread already down to 4mm rear and 5 mm front - no track days, just some spirited driving.
Grip is fine - wet and dry, but the sidewalls appear to flex a lot more than the Assymetricos that I used to have. This gives the handling a slightly 'spongy' feel. Not sure how to describe it.
Anyone else have experience of these tyres? No wonder Kwik-Fit supplied all 4 for £495 inc. VAT.
What tyres should I get next? Looking for excellent handling and steering feel.

Yes i have and it cost me quite a bit of cash searching for my handling problem before i found out that it was those tyers. If you check my history its all in there.
The main problem is the tyer flex it makes the car drive like a scarey bag of sh.te!
Also the floating sensation and the high speed stability problem, they are just awful,i would'nt have those tyers again for free.
The worst aspect of it all is that everyone just thinks your nuts when you tell them,no one find the problem and in the end i just binned them.
Pilot sports are the way to go,they have the stiffest side walls on the market and they will transform your Porsche

I had Pirellis on at the start and you are right they wear very quickly but are good tyres. I then changed to Michelin Pilots and they are much better. The tyrewall is stiffer and they also protect the rims far better than the Pirellis which basically leave the rim completely exposed.
I have pilot sports on my c2s and they are the best tyres I've tried. A little bit more expensive but worth every penny. No more tramlining like the assymetricos. I have recently added bilstein hd/m030 springs/front + rear arb's and the total package makes for a different car. This combination must be worth 50 bhp of engine modifications the way you can negotiate cornering now.

So it looks like a toss-up between Michelin Pilot Sports and Bridgestone SO2's.
Any other options? I used to have Pirelli Assymetricos on the car and they seemed O.K. to me - certainly better than the Rossos.
I have P Zero's on mine and they are due for replacement. Any other options? I used to have Pirelli Assymetricos on the car and they seemed O.K. to me - certainly better than the Rossos.
Hurrah for PH's. Everything you have described regarding the handling of your car is exactly the same as my C2. I find things get all very disconcerting when doing high speed runs along anything other than a flat and straight stretch of road.
What I will pay extra for the Michelin's I will probably save in underwear cleaning bills.
Tyre choice for my GT3 confused me, as there are so many options. So, I put a Toyo front left, Pirelli Assimetrico front right, Michelin Pilot Sport rear right and a Conti on the other.
I think the tyre fitter must have damaged or knocked a suspension component during fitting though, as the handling is a bit all over the place. May have to go get it re-aligned....
