There were a few trial lanes, but that's as far as it went.

Chilli,

I like most other guys on the commute into the City of London use the bus lane down the A11 (Mile End Road - Whitechapel High Street) but just be aware of the cameras in certain places, after all we're on bikes so don't cause any congestion

And there's a lovely one at the bottom of Haymarket going to Traf Square - where everything else has to loop left and back down the Canadian Embassy, bikes can follow the buses off to the right, and avoid that nasty cloggy bit.

I'm pretty sure it's going to happen soon.

There's a few around at the moment that let you and I think they've run out of excuses NOT to let M/bikes use them.

The arguement went along the lines of 'pedestrians aren't looking for MBs in bus lanes and therefore will be run over'

defence:

'same applies to push bikes'

'MBs are noisy with bright lights - only the deaf and blind are at risk'

'MBs do not obstruct buses and therefore should be allowed to use them to reduce congestion'

I reckon it'll happen in a couple of years.

I agree with C2, I can go throuh gaps the same size as cyclists, therefore not obstructing the buses. The only motorcycles I find that can't through the same gaps are the big BMW's and any bikes with big panniers, but why do you need big panniers on your bike to commute especially if youare a regular commuter

This is overdue to be sorted out! I'd love to know when motorcycles every caused a bus to be held up from doing its job.
The trial they ran showed no particular negative light on MC using bus lanes with the three trial locations (one of these near me on A13 on a road that I don't actually use anymore)

There are a couple of stretches of Bus Lane I have to use illegally to make progress every morning and evening. I'm fully aware of the times in operation and what vehicles are supposed to use them. More importantly I know where the CCTV cameras are and can tell if they're facing either the correct or incorrect way.
I never been pulled once by passing any cop cars for white lining passed them to the front of the queue. I'm obviously not stupid enough to actually ride blatantly passed them properly in the lane. You also have to watch for Buses purely from the fact most carry CCTV now, so basically don't ride in the bus lane when one is following you.

BTW as an ex mate found out don't even think of using em in Stratford! He got a PCN within two weeks of starting commuting.

Sounds lovely mate. I'm on the black R6, blue and white helmet usually found at the back with all the mopeds!! You can tell it's me, by looking at all the dents and scratces on the bike!!

Cheers.

Chilli judging by the time of your post you are an early starter! I may catch you on the return journey down the A11 and then on the A12 from Bow flyover to the A406 roundabout. btw you can pull a nice mono under power down the slip road by McD's on to the A12 I'll look out for you dude
