Parking ticket, what do you think?
Discussion
Need some feedback from all you experts on here.
I was working in a Pub today and loading my kit in, I was parked on a single yellow with no loading restrictions. Went out after a couple of minutes to find a PCN on the screen, Parking Attendant was no where to be seen so must have been hiding or on a bike. Anyway no problems I will just appeal it and send a copy of the delivery note and will probably win however, on closer examination I have noticed the PCN has the wrong registration entered, just one digit out but still wrong. So I am in the clear, or am I? As most attendants now take photos of offending vehicle will they notice their mistake and re- issue the PCN? Probably wont happen until the poor ba*s*ard who's reg they have used has gone through the mill but, could it still come back to bite me on the Ar*e? What do you think.
Chris.

Read this thread It contains loads of info on the correct markings for the yellow lines. If they're wrong, they're unenforceable

Doing nothing could be fraught with danger.
Nothing paid within the 14days cheap rate or 28days (max)
Council will send Notice to owner of vehicle. Before sending out they check their records and photo, discover mistake and send to correct keeper CAB.
If they send to ABC the irate Reg Keeper replies not him with proof. They recheck, find mistake and send CAB Notice to owner.
If one responds not my vehicle at very start then how did one get the ticket?
Traffic Regulation Order for Waiting Restriction usually contains loading/unloading exemption and providing this has not been abused and used for extended tea break etc. then it is a get out.
If it was me I would appeal immediately on the loading grounds as originally stated by poster and if LA reject go the whole hog to the Parking Adjudicator. I would retain the incorrect Reg No. until the PA' appeal stage as added ammo.
One problem I find since decriminalising these transgressions in the old days there was case law on decisions by High Court. Seems only now and again decisions of PA's come to light so that they can be used to appeal to LA.

Where was it?
Your opening line is that you were "parked"... I suggest you choose a different word in your appeal letter -- you were engaged in commercial loading for a duration of less than 20 mins, I tihnk you'll find.
Polite, prompt note to appeals address on ticket, asking for withdrawal. Don't correct reg number.
My last one of these took about 6 months to do. I also successfully claimed £50 off them for the cost of handling the appeal. Nice.
Would you like me to act as a parking appeals consultant. I can do you a nice invoice for £750 for running the appeal, which you can then claim off them...

So you don't think that as the PCN contains the wrong reg number, it is invalid?
I have no problems appealing wrongly issued tickets, I have appealed six over the past few years and won five, I just don't want to go through the process if I don't have to. I have never been able to claim back any costs on appeal, they always refused, are there new guidelines? My last appeal was two years ago.
I may take a gamble and wait to see the 28 day Notice To Owner, I can then appeal if it arrives.

If they are anything like the wardens in maidstone they write the ticket 100yrds away then run past your car and slap it on your window, yes really, happened a couple of times to me when my car was parked outside my shop loading up. Anyway both times they got somthing wrong, the reg or the make of the car, So I ignored the ticket, when the letter comes through the post I just replied
we dont own a car with this reg or
I dont own a xxxxxx
never heard another thing about them.
Bomley also see to do the same thing, run past and slap the ticket on, caught the guy then tho as he ripped the windscreen wiper up then let it fall at full wack. Got an appology from a bod at the council, but still had to pay the ticket grrrrr

PCN issued.
Not paid in within 28 days, THEN LA send a Notice to owner. No stipulation on time limit.
If they did not take a photo then the paperwork is going to the owner of the vehicle to which the VRM is recorded at DVLA and not cjs.
A no pay syndrome and letter back from owner may start them checking their files/photos.
Guess it is more sweating.

yep I don't think there is a time limit, I had a garage respray one of my cars, they parked it out in the road and it got a ticket, they never said a word to me when I picked it up and I never got anything from the council.
Anyway some months later, christmas f****g eve, debt collectors turn up on my door asking for 400 notes for the parking ticket, and if I dont pay they will be back TOMORROW and it'll be 580 notes, I must have got there letters etc etc
I had my parents and the inlaws round so I had to pay up.
Scum bags the lot of them
