hi all,
been following this forum for a while, found it a very usfull site. so thanks to all on here for all the info i have found.
after much deliberation and looking at about 15 Chim's, i went for a face lift 450 '96 with 40,000 on the clock, in gun metal grey with a black full leather interior ( its rather cute) can be heard/ seen in the Wolverhampton area or on the M5 to Gloucestershire, no doubt your ears are tuned for that V8 burble - next door already hates the car as i leave for work at 7am with a huge smile on my face every day, i am loving every min of driving the car!!! ( apart from the rubbish blowers in this heat)

i do have a few questions that i hope you guys/ gals may be able to help me with

1, radiator, had a Black bird through the radiator within 2 days of having the car got it recored no problem - does anyone make a smart mesh grill to go in the front like on the early Chims so i dont have to go through this again?

2, feel a bit naked in the car - who makes nice roll bars to fit?

3, is there a better fan blower unit that i can fit to the car, damn legs are roasting when i get stuck in traffic (one that moves some air would be good)

4, in traffic the car engine temp seems stable at 85 but the fans kick in at around 70-75 when i am in traffic is this normal?

cheers

R

I've got a Rollcentre bar from www.t-v-r-services.co.uk in my Griff

Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

See my profile for picture

Welcome!

1, I think leven do one but it might be a different shape. I think Halfrauds sell mesh by the sheet for the chav market. It should work fine on a decent car.

3, Are you sure you've got the footwell vents open? It took me a while to find them. Also see the other thread on here about making sure that the heater valve is working properly.

4, sounds fine to me. The secret to these cars is to learn what's 'normal' for yours and take action if things start to change.

thanks for the replys

will look into the bars the double hoop looks really good.

temp guage thing is now sorted as it seems to have stopped working - so running temp is 120 when the engine is not running and around 55 in standing traffic =0)

will get some chav mesh for the grill

Halfords do several versions of the chav mesh, some of it is very flimsey and looks like it would deform very easily- wouldn't want it to sever any hoses, others are much stronger.

Which hoses in particular..? The only things right at the front are the air filter, washer bottle, alarm siren and the horn.
