Is this possible, any ideas?

The bike definately won't fit in the boot. I'm not keen on using any carry device that may damage the paint work, any system must be quick to fit and remove and be secure enough that I won't lose the bike on a corner?

Any thoughts / guidence much appreciated.
Ian

ps I know this situation is not ideal, but the Tamora is my only car (I live in central london with one parking space) and I currently transport my bike by train and it sucks!. Alternatives are, get a second car to leave on the street, or a new car - neither of which appeals]

I know you can get bike racks for MGFs and MX5s, that simply 'clip' onto the edges of the boot, wonder if one of those would work?
Alternatively, would you consider a ‘fold away’ type bike, if all else fails?

Thanks Chris - I'll look on the internet for MGF / MX5 Bike Racks to see if it might work.

Folding bike - probably a non starter unfortunately, but a v. good suggestion. I'm as particular about my bikes as I am my sports cars! and want to transport the kit I already have (not folding bikes).

I've transported a bike in mine - you have to take the wheels off, stick them in the boot, then drop the rest of the frame on the shelf behind the seats - turn the bars and tweak the seat positions a bit, and it's fine - but only with the roof off!

BTW, I wrapped my frame in some blanket or padding (might even have been bubble wrap) to protect the car. I'm sure you can fiddle with the seat/bar heights, pedals etc. to get it to fit.

I've got a bike bag and plenty of bubble wrap (I've just moved flats). I'm thinking of bubblewrapping the front forks and the area aroung the rear derailer and the crank (+ maybee the roof stays on the Tam), then putting the bike in the bike bag (but not zipping the bag up fully.

So the car is protected from the bike (which will be dirty after the ride), but keeping my rear visability in the car (not zipping up the bike bag, just kinda leaving it loose around the base of the bike - upto the top of the cars collapsed roof).

+ blanket to fill the gaps + extra protection

Roll on the weekend!
