I've searched the forums and Google but can't find an answer to this!

I'm going on a track day at Keevil in August. They have a 100db limit:

"The noise testing rules at Keevil are 100 Db dB(A) at 0.5 metres and at 4500 rpm .... This rule will be enforced rigidly, so if you have any doubts consider adding extra silencing. "

As far as I know, my 500 is stock and in good shape- does anyone know if I'm in danger here? 100 decibels is pretty loud.

Thanks!

It's covered in the bible and in the noise FAQ on www.tvrbooks.co.uk. At 4500 you are marginal.

My Chim, (4l, full de-cat, standard silencer) gives 98db at 3750 and anywhere between 102 and 105db at 4125. I'd say you were pretty marginal, and need some bolt on silencers, you can always test without them and see before bolting them on.

the best thing to do is go to your nearest track if that is possible when they are having any type of track day and get them to test it for you. It is a 20 second operation and they will do it gladly

Famous last words but you should be OK. I've been tested many times by MSEvents in my standard exhaust Griff 500. The air temp makes a big difference but in August you should be about 96-99dB. I've been 106 on a cold day! To help make sure you're under, try to ensure the car behind in the queue stays well back. Also, don't be pursuaded to rev over 4500 rpm if the tester hasn't got a good view of your rev counter - if you see what I mean. Good luck!

Thanks all.

Steve, I'm currently in Spain and didn't bring my Bible with me! Nor could Google find your very helpful FAQ page- odd. At 3125 revs I'm fine, but there's obviously a good difference one thousand rev/s up.

(BTW, it's not decatted- so that should give me a couple of dB?)

It sounds like I *probably* will be OK, but it's a jolly close call.

If I do decide to get silencers - where do I get them? I have no idea what a silencer looks like/costs/how it affects the performance!

I'm sure plenty of folks do them but ACT certainly do,

I think Leven and most of the indies er... RT Racing, Tower View etc do a version of sorts.

Last month at Abingdon with motorsport events my 450 which was totally standard was 96.5 decibels at 4500rpm.
