Thought I would take the Tamora down to Nobles rolling road.

They told me TVRs normally produce 40-50 bhp down on spec, so I was quite pleased with:

370bhp @7390rpm
276lbft @6516rpm.

Power graph looks like it was put on with a ruler.

Sounds fantastic.

I would love to see the plot though - do you have a scanner ?

I realise I could go draw my own from your description, but it wouldn't be the same...

Impressive - is yours a RR conversion or owt? Mine made 338/276 on Noble's road - about 5% down on TVRs figures.

Will try to scan the plot.

It's standard, nubbin. Just the 'power sapping' sports exhaust.

Maybe last weekend a few extra red rose horses snuck in, while it was parked at the factory.

He must have changed his calibration then!

Mine's going over to TorqueRVT tomorrow for a service, so perhaps another trip to Noble might be in order now I've loosened up the engine

The other interesting thing was that mine (an early 2002 engine) peaked both torque and power around 6400 revs - the power peak is considerably lower than yours. I suppose that suggests TVR have been continuing to develop the Six, which can only be good news (but not for me, obviously!)

Just over 28000 miles on mine. 22k since the rebuild.

Engine feels better than it ever has done.

It seems incredible to me that the AJP8 generates 100lb.ft more torque than the sp6 engines, the 4 valver sp6 holds it well to the top though to make good hp peak .. nice curve and good top end

it's the 4.5 cerbies and RV8 engines that Nobles are talking about .. you'd maybe see 6-10bhp extra out of the sp6 with a remap, they're very good as std as you can see

Seemed quite surprised. They were expecting about 300/310. Also seemed to expect it to blow up.

Is my Torque about what you would expect, Joo?

It's a figure comparable to others that have been mentioned on here. I've not done many sp6 cars so dont relly know, the last one i had in only made 320bhp and it was a red rose ..

Hi Andy,

I take it that this was the adjusted graph for the flywheel?

Any idea what % they used? TVR Eng. recommend/use 19.5%.

Cheers,

Paul

That's corrected to the flywheel.

19.5% is the ammount I have heard, too.

Just think what it could have made with the standard non-power sapping variety

Well done

It should go as well as it looks with those figures.

Mine made 376hp at Austec a few months ago, but the torque seemed a bit exaggerated (349lb ft). It certainly kept up with Tuscan S and Red Rose T350s on the track. I noticed 2 different well-sorted Cerberas started to pull away above 110ish as you'd expect.

I wonder if it would make more horses/torque since the head gasket replacement - not because of the gasket itself, but because the engine seemed much quieter and less tappety when cold or hot since. TVR definitely changed some top-end components at the same time.

If only the head gasket would stop allowing water into the cylinders ...

When they do a standard exhaust that pops, bangs and spits out flames, I'll get one.

I didn't know that that exhaust loses power, how is that so? Its well, well worth it though.
