Well, i thought i would post simply to say thanks for everyones help with the Cerbera. I have enjoyed it immensely but feel the need for an even bigger andrenalin hit and i am buying a motorbike.

One day i am sure i will be back, there really is nothing quite like a Cerby and not another car i would rather have...hence the change outlook and move to a bike!! Well, what can replace em?!

Maybe when i have to grow up and have kids i will look for this one back again

PH is a great place and i will still be popping in, but probably more frequently posting in Biker Banter ...

don't do it! you'll regret it

i went from a Aprilia Mille to the Cerb, best thing I could have done. You get far more of a rush from a cerb than you'll get from a bike.

that said, what are you looking to get?

It's a different kind of rush. I've been running my bike back in after an engine rebuild and now that I can properly open it up i've got an ear to ear grin

It's definitely quicker than the Cerb and a bit more nimble too!

Still loving the Cerb though!

I'm selling mine aswell, but I'm planning on replacing it with a powerboat - it's the only thing I can think of that makes as much noise and there's no speed limit on the North Sea.

Don't Do It !!

Any large sports bike will blow a Cerb into the weeds but I bought my Cerb last year after the third crash in succession on my GSXR on diesel.

You will be hurt. If you're lucky, you might walk away. If not, well from the experience of several friends and acquaintances, death is the easy way out.

I'm not joking !!!

Keep the cerb and live a full and rewarding life.

you're right, its a very different kind of rush but after having bikes from the age of 16, IMO the cerb experience is far more excillerating.

sorry but i have to agree with mr cerbera

unfortunately its not if, it's a matter of when and how badly you'll get hurt. i love bikes but i've lost several friends in accidents caused by muppet car drivers and therefore i know the risk

if you do it i hope it works out, but i reckon it won't be long before you start thinking of the cerb again

To all bikers and would be bikers - I once saw the statistics for number of deaths vs number of people who ride bikes. OK number was for Australia but it was one death for every 50 people who rode a bike. Thought the number was a bit high but when I thought about it every biker I have spoken to has had an accident or three. I had my three any one of which could have been a lot more serious - keep the cerb!

If you'd put this thread in Biker Banter, you'd have got totally different repies. Reading what some people have written, you'll be dead in a year. That's bollox. Yes, you may have an accident or two . I've been riding for years and have had a couple (one my fault, one due to a car driver). I've also had a Cerb, and whilst I enjoyed it at the time, there's no comparison to a bike. Just know your limits and watch out for the drivers.

Thanks for all the sentiments and the warnings about riding, i am well aware!!

However, i have enjoyed the Cerb and want to do other things - a bike is simply one of them ( i cant go without an adrenalin rush now and again

The Cerb has kinda spoilt me a bit, cause i really dont hanker after another fast car at the moment - what the hell can replace them god only knows - it feels weird because the Cerb was my dream car and now i own it...well its difficult to explain...

Half the fun was actually looking forward to buying one if you know what i mean?!

Biking is in my family an whilst i know is significantly riskier than driving a car that is , in part, what makes it such an adrenalin hit.

To answer earlier questions it will be my first bike so probably an SV 650, fazer, thundercat or similar.

I have my eyes on a ZX-6R, but that might be a little more than i can chew first bite....

God, even the first selection can beat my cerb off the line?! Thats more than enough to keep me humble...

That's funny I've been commuting by/riding bikes for years and am now wanting to get a cerbera as well. I have a ZZR600 and you're right about the buzz. There's nothing can touch powering away from a roundabout leaving everything behind.

But.

Get some training - seriously - and be very aware on the road. Expect everyone else on the road not to have noticed you, and it's no shame backing off to let a muppet in, you can always power past them later Bikesafe run free police motorcyclist based refresher courses that teach you observations skills above evrything else.

A ZX6R was my first bike after just passing my test, and it was very user friendly and very comfortable.
As long as you've got your head screwed on and respect it, you'll be fine.

I have to agree with the view that you get a bigger rush from bike ownership than any sports car will give you. Its just a totally different experience, and one that can't be replicated in a car. Any bike owners will know exactly what I mean.

Good luck in selling your Cerb Rob.

The thundercat is a bit of a chubby girl, the SV650 is a cracking bike, but not massively powerful for its capacity - being a twin.

The Fazers are excellent all-round machines, but the ZX6R is certainly the daddy in this company...... Kawasaki also do some good insurance schemes if you buy new.

My first bike was a Honda VFR400, which was an unbelievable amount of fun, although it got a little breathless on hot days. I currently have a tuned GSXR750 which I love, so if I was feeling biased I'd recommend the new GSXR600 as being a good new bike.

As with all these toys (bike/Cerb) if you treat them with respect they shouldn't bite you in the arse!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Rob. There's a lot of TVR folks go to bikes or vice versa or have both. It's a different feeling entirely and both are with their own merits.

Do what I did. Get an R1 and keep the Cerb. They don't really overlap that much. Decide what your doing on any particular day depending on how limp your wrist feels.
