I reckon my gear has soaked up a swimming pool of sweat this week. Commuting is hell on earth in this weather. My romantic ideas about biking are looking a little shaky!!!

Roll on icy rain and frostbite!!!!!

Cheers

I have stayed off the bike this week for that very reason. I dont use leathers, my jacket has some nice vents in but i still sweat, and my bottoms, well, lets just say its not pretty and very sticky, just wish i could take out the lining in them. Looking to buy some lighter trousers for the summer to match the jacket.

Had to make do with the air con in the jeep instead

Wear thin thermal long johns under your leather jeans... it's not a wind up honestly. You won't get that sweaty feel and you'll feel a *lot* cooler.

Yes its definately been very hot in bike gear this week.. however I got the tube to work mon/tues due to double gigs/beverages after work (been booked for months) and I can tell you its far worse! I know what I prefer!
Nice to have the choice unlike all the poor sods who tube it to work everyday now that is hell on earth!

If you don't live in London you really have no appreciation of how hot certain tube lines can be in the summer esp at commuting times. The conditions actually break EU laws on livestock transport.. TFLs suggestion take some water with you!

Not that I'd encourage it above 30mph here in town.. but the faster you go on the bike the cooler you are!

Yup, I've been in the same boat. Must lose about 3l or sweat per ride into Chelsea.

That said, I'd rather be hot and wear all my gear than end up like burger meat having fallen off in a T-shirt, shorts and sandals that are de-rigeur with the indestructable scooter riders (and some sportsbikes come to that)

I haven't bothered using the bike for work all this week. No matter what you wear under your outer layer, sitting astride a 1200cc furnace at traffic lights for a couple of minutes at a time (thanks to mad Red Ken's traffic phasing schemes) pushes temperature levels way too high for my personal comfort.
I sahll make up for the lack of miles this week with a trip to Wales and back (from Kent) tomorrow. Tintern Abbey for lunch anybody?

A nice Burgman 650 and Joe Rocket Mesh Gear is a great combo for summer riding!!

Know what you mean about London transport temps. Temp on some buses this week exceeded 50 degrees Centigrade. It's illegal to transport most animals much above twenty five!!!

Still who gives a toss about us human beings. Certainly not public transport companies. Livestock get more room on the average truck (by law) than a standard class carriage!

Wanna start a fight? Offer the guy next to you on the tube a tin of deodorant!!!!
