Right then,

I'm starting to get some nice lean angles, and the tyres are well scrubbed across the entire tread now. Next question is, do y'all bother with hanging off the side of the bike when cornering on the road. I've had a bit of a play at it, and to be honest, I feel a bit of a tit crawling all over the bike on the road. Is this practice generally more a racing/trackday thing?

Its best to do what feels comfortable, if you`re not comfortable then you`ll loose concentration and that`ll lead to the unmentionable.

But if you do want to lean off the bike, experts say that its best to have one bum cheek on the seat and that should put you in the best position for stability and control and shouldnt upset the bike.

I'm in awe of these road race lads. I can't process what's going on fast enough much above 70-80mph, and until I get my helmet fit sorted I'm screwed!

I'm quite happy pootling around at 60-70 at the moment. I watched some on-bike action from the TT. I don't know how they do it. The corners are gone before I've even registered they've turned!!!

After my recent crash, I think knee down and excessive lean angles should be saved for the track... I normally have one cheek off the bike on the road and shoulder down as well - this is enough really...

I stayed with a friend in Douglas for the ’98 TT and he had been lucky enough to catch Philip McCallens knee sliders when thrown during the celebrations after he won either the Senior or the Formula 1 the year before. (A prized posession for this friend as you can imagine.) It was very interesting to see how little “damage” the sliders had received after six laps of the Island at an average of almost 120mph.

Tenner says he did.

I meant I'd read that DJ never rode that hard when not racing - it might have been rubbish from t'interweb though
