Aww no full size photo?

It looks good, and you did a nice job with drawing attention to the car instead of the busy background.

Not sure if I like the angle / lens setup. Looks like the little rari has squashed itself headlong into a wall

Gotto agree with Cy here. Also the odd perspective/angle combined with the spot colour is giving the impression that the rari has been cut & pasted in from another pic.

Prefer that one as the angle looks more natural (although I think the horizon is still slightly on the piss )

Sizing I suspect is being carried out by your photo hosting provider. Don't know who the best one is as I host my own - you could try using uncle-dave.co.uk, resize in your pc to max 750 wide and then upload to there and it should come up at that width - don't upload and try to link directly to an 8MP image as it will be huge and will take ages to load, having done so it will then be subjected to Ted's resizer anyway to display it at 750pixels wide.

Well its sort of worked but you have ignored me and uploaded the pics at full size they are approx 4MB per pic!!!! People on dial will love this thread , it took me a minute to load it and I am on 8MB broadbeen.

You need to use photoshop or whatever paint program you use to resize to a max of 750wide on your pc and then upload that version to uncle dave, obviously keep your originals large for yourself and just save a new version for uploading. There is also a windows powertoy called "image resizer" which is quite nifty for doing this.

Agreed - that one is better, although I don't like the raggedy frame

One further suggestion, as has been said elsewhere before, if you're going to the trouble of running it through ps and want to disguise the registration, rather than just scramble the numberplate (which looks a bit messy IMO) try either rearranging it...

Credit above to Matt Gravy

or wiping it out completely...

PS. Enzo light cluster is nice.

thanks for the great tips, another question is that does anybody know another decent uploader. Uncle dave is good but there is no option to do multiple uploads or is there?

Uncle Dave is just a Ph'er who has some server space that he created little upload tool too, very handy for a lot of Ph'ers but doesn't come with advanced features. Check with your isp to see if you have been allocated some free server storage, most certainly used to bung you some included. If so you can add into "My Network Places" on your pc set up via Ftp connection, once set up you can open it like a folder, this is what I do and just copy or drag any number of files I want to transfer over into it. Couldn't be simpler.

Jame...photobucket is fine, just do a 750 pixel wide copy of your image to upload, and make sure in "account options" you click on "max picture size" and check 1024Mb..

Seriously though, please please please link to pics already resized to maximum 750pixels wide regardless of where they are hosted. If you keep linking to the hi-res pics you will do yourself no favours, it is just annoying. The blurring is a little strange on that one, makes me feel my eyes have gone funny.

S.

Edited to add, just realised what you are doing, you have resized it but down to 750kb.... still way too big. You need to set it so that the image is 750 pixels wide, file size will set itself when you save it, typically it will be under 100kb which is much more friendly.

Just out of curiousity, what is the practical reason in not just leaving the original numberplate?

It's been widely debated whilst you were away from the forum - basically as far as I'm concerned t's a courtesy thing, nothing more.

James, your images are huge! resize them to 750px before you upload, I grew a full beard waiting for this thread to load.

yeah, sorry.HaHa i love your joke about the beard! I did try to resize it when i saved it. On photoshop you have 12 choices 12 being the highest file size and 1 being the lowest. I put it to 8 but its still no good.

I have tried again

the 1-12 selector on PS is for quality not dimensions. If arguing semantics they both refer to size - one is file size (quality) and one is the size it displays at (dimensions).

To resize an image in PS go to "Image->Image size" and set 750px as the width.

Then, when presented with the 1-12 slider, choose whatever gives you approx 100KB in file size.

These are widely regarded as the settings with the most "netiquette".

Now I'm off to run face first at a wall to punish myself for using the word netiquette.
