Washer horror (blood...but no guts)

Was cleaning her on Sunday, got on to the windscreen and lifted up the wipers to clean the visual aperture (why use one word when 2 will add to the confusion). This for some reason resulted in the metal hook at the base of the washer mechanism, releasing itself violently and both this and the spring 'boinging' (technical term) away.

Fortunately I managed to located both in the engine bay - but refitting resulted in the much tension that was built up stretching the spring over the hook - being rapidly releases and my wrist being slashed on the lovely sharp metal edge of the wiper (it was depressing me but not *that* much).

I tried numerous other times - but to none to lasting effect, each time I got the spring and hook back into position and then moved the wiper back to its correct position on the windscreen the whole system would 'boing' off again.

I am doing something wrong - should the spring be stretched when the blade is NOT in the upright position?

Please help - I HAVE to drive it on Wednesday - we are forecast rain ;-(

I've fitted them. An easy job for a definite improvement in performance and looks.

How do you actually remove the arm from the motor mountings

I couldn't figure out how to do this...I removed the nut under the cover but this didn't release the arm??

If you bend the arm back so it is at 90° to the screen you should then be able to 'wobble' it off its spline

Ive got the levens on too Oli. Look and work much better. I am a total numpty (particulalrly with anything mechanical) and even I managed to fit them.

Flick the arm to the 'up' position. Lift the plastic flap up at the base of the arm and release the nut that holds wiper arm onto the wiper motor...then wiggle it a bit (techical stuff now )

Hardest bit I found was getting the fluid tube up through the wiper arm spring (all becomes clear when you have the parts )

FYI I didnt find the 'destructions' very revealing so I telephoned Levens and a nice chap talked me through the proceedure.
