At the ripe old age of bus pass I am considering buying a mid to late 80`s 911 to use as my main car but not necessarily every day. As a new PH`er I would welcome any views regarding purchase, reliability running costs etc, cheers Art

Do it. The most useable classic supercar you can buy. I used a 3.2 Carrera as an everyday car for 2 years and only bought a second car when the guilt got too much. The car itself has never missed a beat.

Sadly, mine's not getting much use at the moment and so I'm selling it but I really can't reccomend them highly enough and they're not even that expensive to keep.

Great cars with real character. As long as you buy well they are very reasonable to maintain and are even tolerably fuel-efficient. Boring advice I know but buy on condition, don`t be tempted to buy the first that you see and if you are mechanically imcompetent get it inspected...
