After the success of my last European trip I'm planning another. It's been about 3,500 miles since the last service so it seems like a good idea to change the oil.

Just a couple of questions..

1) I picked up 10 litres of Mobil 1, 5w40 oil in France (for about £45!) I assume that this is suitable. I'm mostly concerned about hot-weather performance.
2) Which oil filter do I need for a 500? The normal ERR3340? I've seen them at RimmerBros for about £8.50, is this a good place to get them?
3) Anything else to consider? I'm aware that I need to be fairly quick and take care not to drain the oil pump.

The oils ok, I have used that stuff before. Its probably not as good as some others but its better than most.

The oil filter, I'm not sure of the exact part number but any filter to fit a Rover V8 is ok, there is no difference between them as far as I am aware.

If you have the pre-serp engine then you have to be fairly quick on the filter change, if its serp engine then its not so much of a problem. don't forget to fill the new filter with oil before putting it on, and put a smear of used oil around the rubber seal on the filter to help with the sealing. Don't forget to change the sump washer as well.

I usually crank the engine over with no spark until the oil pressure light goes out, just to make sure everything is happy.

I've got Steve Heath's replacement plug, it's got a rubber washer so I assume that I don't need to change that.
