Free online file storage......
Discussion
Hi all....
I found this online storage and it seems really good. Great for backups, pictures or anything you'd like to upload to!
Check it out and if you sign up, please use my referral link as you then get an upgrade to the next level account depending on the number of referrals you get.
The company is box.net and they'll shortly have a client for your PC to make uploading even easier and make your online storage look like another drive

What's with the rolling eyes!? It's a great place to share files. If you want to stick confidential stuff on there, well fine. But I was thinking of more of a photo/video store.
So....roll your eyes again....
Oh, and why can't I ask people to sign up using my affiliate status? Are you afraid of taking an honest opportunity when it comes to you?

Honesty... like calling it "an upgrade to the next level account" rather than "money"?

OK. Let's enlighten your ignorance because it looks like you are simply accusing me of cheating people which I don't do.

Stop being so clever and rolling your eyes before reading the facts.
I now thought I should add....
If you want some free storage and want to help me upgrade my account, please use my referral link and ignore Aldi's smart arse comments. I don't and won't be making money from this.

A year's premium account is worth $49.99. Not bad for 30 seconds work!
Well done

Congratulations....totally opposite to what you accused me of earlier. Not exactly hard cash is it, but precisely what I described in the original post....
Stop being such an idiot and digging yourself into a hole.

Unfortuantely sarcasm doesn't work very well online. Get a life Neil and stop being so childish.
I've been playing about with this web storage and i've just found out it supports WEBDAV. Basically, this means you can map the online drive to your PC.

Oh, and if you sign up, please use this link! When 5 of you sign up with it, they upgrade my account for free. Pass your own referral link to your friends too once you sign up and they upgrade your account too.

Disclaimer: No money is made through referrals. Just a free upgrade! (I'll even remove the link with my referral ID once I get my 5 referrals).

Do you really want to put your personal data in the hands of an online company? Fine if you do but personally I would buy a backup unit and do it myself.
Photo / Video storage. Do you have that many incriminating photos and videos that this matters?

As I said if you are happy to trust them, then fine. That's you're decision. Just adding a note of warning that was all.

Sorry Icamm....I just got a little wound up at Aldi's "Nazi" comments....You made a totally fair point.
I myself am not planning on using them for my personal files, but it's a great photo store for my family around the world and myself. You can link to files as well as share them easily so that's good in my books. Plus it uses WEBDAV which means a simple drag and drop into a mapped drive on my PC.
But people seem very wary of these companies and there are a few about. Just a sample include:
box.net
.mac (Apple online storage)
LiveDrive (in beta and coming out shortly)
GDrive (Googles incarnation)
I don't think this kind of thing was meant for sensitive documents but if you were to upload any, I would recommend encrypting them using some strong form of encryption.
Any....just think it's a good idea and it's free which is even better.

I think the catch is they provide a limited service for free which doesn't allow much flexibility. Upgrade to the $4.95 plan or invite 5 friends, and get a much more functional account.
I'm guessing after 1 year and your free upgrade has expired, they presume that you are now addicted to their service so will pay to continue.
Good marketing to be honest!
But I have looked in the T&C's and there doesn't seem to be any catches and all reviews on the net are very positive.
